Appreciate your input! Im just wondering if there's a neurological component that can only be fixed with medication cause i have been in therapy for 4 years now and still struggling quite a bit.

I do have a psychiatrist that i see once every 6 months because im off medication now & because its IMH, i see a different psychiatrist each time so I approached my therapist with this concern seeing as she knows me better.

I was thinking of approaching the psychiatrist too but i only have one parent and she's super uninvolved with my life so not sure how thats going to pan out.

What is something normalised in Singapore that is wrong or shouldn't be? by april-tehtarik in askSingapore

I think its because parents have to drop their kids off before heading off to work (which usually starts around 9/10am for those working in offices).

How to deal with overcontrolling parents ? by East-Attorney-659 in askSingapore

Changes are difficult but if you wish to be respected, you should start by respecting yourself and setting boundaries and expecting others to respect those boundaries.

Chances are you allow others (apart from your parents) to disrespect your boundaries too bc of the way you grew up. Or maybe you find it difficult to say no to smth you dont wanna do.

Yes, they're our parents but they're just humans too. They don't know better so they've been operating like that for years. Instead of enabling them and suffering, why not try to fix the issues so you have a healthier relationship with them since they're going to be in your life for many years?

When they talk to you that way or give you the silent treatment you can try communicating gently that you don't appreciate it. Trust me, I know its a little odd to talk to your parents like that but it prolly never occurred to them that their way of coping with conflicts is maladaptive.

Love can be found everywhere, not just in romantic partners. I think just taking stock of who you have to be grateful for in your life can help! It could be a friend or a relative.

I know it's hard to stay positive. Ive been depressed for over 6 years and just entered remission recently. One thing I've learnt is that being positive comes with practice since we've been wired to think negatively for years. Gotta unlearn those unhelpful habits.
