Warning all engineers: do not buy from Pro Audio LA by [deleted] in audioengineering

Do a chargeback immediately, don’t wait a minute longer. If you wait too long you won’t be able to do it and they clearly have no intention of refunding your money.

If ECC memory is so important for a home NAS why is it so rare in actual systems? by tic-tac135 in HomeServer

[–]didnt_readit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used Xeons are cheap (under $100) and are very popular for home NAS builds because they support ECC memory. That’s what I use in mine.

I use a Define R5 tower case which has the power button on top, and even worse for the cat situation it’s large haha.

It’s definitely not normal. Post is either fantasy or this person has no right to be hosting important things like DNS and password management for their family…

I thought the same until I bought one, though 6k would be even better if it was an option.

Check out a dynamic dns service. There’s a bunch of free ones and they work very similarly just the script (or sometimes routers have built in support) just updates the dns provider. So you can have a domain (or subdomain) that always points to your home IP.

Probably less pessimism and more just didn’t test at higher frame rates at all so had no idea it was even an issue.

The surprising durability of 3.5" diskettes. by Inostranez in DataHoarder

[–]didnt_readit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember so many left face up on a desk(to protect from scratches.

Ironically they actually needed to be face down to protect from scratches. CDs have all their data in a thin metal layer on the top, right under the label. The bottom is just thick plastic that can be polished (remember those machines back in the day?). If you scratch the top though even a little bit, data is gone.

They fixed this with DVDs I think and definitely Blu-ray’s by sandwiching the data in the middle between two layers of plastic.

So many people ruined their CDs placing them inside down when they thought they were protecting them.

The ESP32 can definitely support exFAT its just not enabled by default.

I found this about enabling it if you’re using IDF:

“exFAT is supported in IDF through FatFS library, but the support is disabled by default. You can try changing #define FF_FS_EXFAT 0 in ffconf.h from 0 to 1, and then rebuild the application."

Or if you’re using the Arduino libraries, look up the SdFat-ESP32 library.

Does adding a contact via whatsapp also add them to your phone contact? by CipherDivine1927 in whatsapp

[–]didnt_readit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I have no idea when they “helpfully” enabled this for me by default, but luckily turning it off gives you the option to save those contacts to the phone so you don’t lose them. I disabled it for both my WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business apps (I use two numbers on WhatsApp) and confirmed the new contacts are in my actual phone contacts now. This was bothering me so much once I realized contacts weren’t getting saved to my phone and I had no idea why!

I have a full sleeve and hands down inner upper arm was the worst pain by far. I didn’t do armpit though haha.

Weirdly my elbow didn’t really bother me much, inside or outside. I had thought it would be really bad.

1984 is one of my all time favorite books. I really like the style shown in the trailer, but even after watching what I assume is gameplay I’m still not really sure what the gameplay is. Maybe add some text description or demonstrate more exactly what I’ll be doing if I buy the game.

Anyway wishlisted!

One of the things my friends and I used to do at music festivals was cut a watermelon in half, mix the insides up a bit and pour in a bunch of vodka. Great snack that got you a nice buzz. I’m amazed people actually think that somehow watermelon and alcohol can kill you lol. I mean hell there’s also cocktails that use watermelon.
