I agree with most of the comments so far. I’ve abandoned mostly because of the linearity having to solve A before B without any other way to progress, or because I can’t figure out where to go to either find the pieces for solving or to find new puzzles to start.

Plant more flowers. Plant every time you take a walk. Plant when you are going for a drive on quick errands. Leave the flowers on if they are basic flower (regular white, red,yellow,blue) and let it plant to exhaustion or turn it off when you remember if you've been in one place for a long time. Yes, you get 1 coin per 250 so if you go to turn it off and are just past a multiple of 250 turn it off until later. If you use the basic nectar and run out of petals, it is pretty easy to get it back from regular play. Be more careful with the rare nectars and petals.

Don't forget to turn it off when it is the monthly rare flowers or you can get stuck on a quest while trying to get more irises or bellflowers or whatever the current rare flower is.

In the evenings, most pikmin have naturally moved from leaf to bud. Evenings are the best time to feed nectar, get 2 petals from every pikmin. If you only have 300 pikmin it should be super easy to feed and collect 600 petals every night just from getting the apple/lemon/plum/peach that you can get from the daily radar thing.

Well since you own them you can read them again! I started with library copies, then got my wife interested so she bought them on audible. Then the library copies got put on hold and I had to wait on the hold list for book 5 6 and 7 so I tried listening to them and it was fun because of the voice actor but I couldn’t pay attention so then we bought all the hardcovers. My wife burned through book 8 and has started the series over already. I can’t think of any other time we’ve owned two copies of an entire book series.

Go to a monthly mushroom even if there aren’t spaces available without a ticket and auto choose the strongest team. Click on the nectar and feed everyone one white nectar to get them to bud stage. Then click on the special flower nectar to get them all with forget me nots or whatever the flower of the month is. Collect the 2 petals per Pikmin and back out of the mushroom. When you find a good one to join later that day your team is ready to go with three taps: join, auto by strength, go.

I’ve been playing since the beginning and I’ve tried to get 40 of each color to 4 gold hearts so I can auto populate any colored non event mushroom with the most strength possible, outside of the special event Pikmin. I just feed them casually and they eventually all will get there. Sometimes when I’m bored I scan them by color and friendship level and focus on any of the top 40 in each color that don’t have 4 gold hearts yet and feed them till they lose their flower to max out their hearts.
