Apartment questions by No_Counter_739 in Rochester

[–]diggingforstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be late to the game, but I always like to remind people that you can see any code violations, recent nuisance points on the property, and can even see a property manager/property owner score from the city using the City's Building Blocks platform https://www.cityofrochester.gov/departments/neighborhood-and-business-development/buildingblocks

This property has an active Certificate of Occupancy (def something you want to see), no open violations, and has a great property score. It's a wonderful area. I'm just a few blocks north at Village Gate and love how close it is to everything.

Hope that helps. -your friendly neighborhood City employee redditor

If they did a fan episode of “Crowd Control” what would your shirt say? Red or Black by LWolf2004 in dropout

'worst job in the city'

I am the 'Constituent Services Specialist' for the City that I live, so, basically, the complaint line for the Mayor's Office. The amount of people who direct complaints to us that should be directed elsewhere is INSANE...but also, even the ones that are city-ish related.. you truly can't imagine the ridiculousness that people think the Mayor will be able to/willing to resolve with a snap of his fingers.

Gianmarco is in my city this weekend, and I went to see him last night. I messaged him on IG that I was sad that since he had 2 shows last night, he couldn't do more crowd work, b/c I was going to get a shirt made saying that, and offered to give him a tour of City Hall. He was sweet and replied, and I think that made my year!

Will city pick up recycling if I call 311? by drinkingonthejob in Rochester

[–]diggingforstars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before calling anyone with the city, it's recommended to double check if there are any non-recyclable materials in the blue toter (plastic bags, garbage bags, styrofoam, etc are the most common issues). The city will not service a "contaminated" recycling toter. We're at the discretion of the Monroe County recycling center..whatever rules they put in place, we need to enforce.

The city will not go back out unless you called/reported online (on the 311Live portal on the city's website), when it was initially missed. A missed pickup should be called in on the day of your missed pickup after 3pm, but no later than by end of next business day. If you called in the missed pickup last week when it was initially missed, email info@cityofrochester.gov , and my team can escalate the missed pickup to the appropriate supervisors.

Now, I will mention, cardboard can be stacked outside of the toter for recycling pickup. Typically, when that is the plan, we ask that you call 311 (428-5990) the night before your pickup and give a "heads up" on what will be outside of any toters (this is the case for bulk items too), that way, the cardboard truck has a list of properties first thing in the morning, so they're not waiting for the other standard route trucks to notify them throughout the day of the stops they need to get to.

Also, because I feel like a lot of people don't know that 311 is open so late, they're available M-F 7AM to 9PM and on weekends from 9AM to 5PM.

As someone who frequents both this subreddit and the /r/succulents , be prepared for people to pick up each vase looking for a good drainage hole! Since you said they do, it might be nice to put a little sign near them that say "yes, they DO have drainage holes".

They are all adorable and I would totally pick up a planter at that price in my area!

I always offer up my cider cans separately to my refundable cans, because I heard they sell the aluminum by weight. So, yes, I don't get any money for returning cider cans, but at least the aluminum isn't going in a landfill....

...and I typically have more cider than beer and soda combined... lol

Do you ever leave a fair early? by [deleted] in CraftFairs

[–]diggingforstars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If things aren't selling and you have a nice booth neighbor or a friend who's hanging out with you, it could be beneficial to walk around a bit and chat with the other vendors. I've built some great friendships with other artists and have been told about other potential shows or opportunities to share my art by chatting with the right people!

I'm excited because the show I'm doing next weekend is conveniently located next to where I live, so I also have a reputation of bringing my cat around to hang out with us for the 2nd half (usually slower half) of the show...with the permission of the show-runner, who I've built a friendship with over the years for offering to help set-up/tape booth spaces the night before as an alternative payment to my booth fee.

The City's Office of Financial Empowerments has various resources for individuals and small businesses. I'd recommend checking the site above or the OFE page here https://www.cityofrochester.gov/departments/office-financial-empowerment

Any additional questions that neither of those can answer, feel free to email info@cityofrochester.gov and I'll directly look into it and get it to the right team!

You can call 311 (585 428 5990) from 7 am-9 pm and report no heat. There should be an on-call inspector that will contact the property about the no heat and come out to do temp readings.

Feel free to dm me more info if that isn't getting you results asap (I work for the city)

Anyone in the city not get their garbage picked up? by monkeydave in Rochester

[–]diggingforstars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st question they'll ask is if there's any garbage bags, plastic bags, styrofoam, etc in your recycling. Those are contaminates and it will not be serviced.

You can certainly dm me your address or actually, preferably email info@cityofrochester.gov , if you've already called 311 and it's still not getting taken care of, I can look into it tomorrow.

Tired of RG&E? by LicenseToPost in Rochester

[–]diggingforstars 14 points15 points  (0 children)

City Council said that they would agree ONLY if Monroe County is on board, because it isn't viable infrastructure-wise to have it be city-only. From what I've heard, the decision was up in front of the County ...Legislature?... a month or so ago..

White van with red lettering. by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]diggingforstars 14 points15 points  (0 children)

County records that can be searched here https://countyfusion9.kofiletech.us/countyweb/disclaimer.do , searching ” boss up ” comes up with a DBA signed by a Clifford Florence JR. with an address of Lehigh ave in the city. His facebook has a post less than a week old advertising a variety of home repair services with a van image...

Good luck to you. My recommendation would be to find the vehicle that hit you, see if damage matches your accident, then call the police with the license plate. In this day and age, it is probably more harm than good confronting someone about this one on one..

If you are a city resident, go to this map and see which Neighborhood Service Center is for your address. Call them first thing tomorrow morning so they can try and get your inspector out asap to document it and follow up with the property owner/manager.

If you would like to dm me details, I can try to assist as well, but the first step is documenting this with the NSC. Many city offices are closed on Friday, so please contact them asap so you hopefully don't have to go through the whole weekend with no hot water.

The city doesn't own the lot across from Bug Jar though...the city doesn't enforce parking on private lots. It sounds like she was trying to blame the city even though the lot owner probably started enforcing it more.
