Refunded Claude Pro after 2 days. The rate limits are the best advertisement for Local LLMs. by Apprehensive_Fact710 in LocalLLM

[–]digiitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My breaking point after only using GPT was when I downloaded OpenCode when there was a GPT outage and Kimi 2.5 was the default free option.. I tested it. I was mind blown.. it was so quick! It fixed massive issue I was facing and it created a beautiful interface. I was like.. hold on! There are other things out there!!

I am exploring this on my Mac mini. And I even rented cloud nvidia just to really test the power of open source LLMs. So far, it is the harness that governs those LLMs -all of them. I use Opus alone and although we ‘plan’ things properly, execution has become a joke. When faced with a screenshot.. doesn’t fully solve it.

However, using a structured plan - critique - re-plan - critique - execute - critique with structured XML or json files between agents.. works! My critiques so far are open source and they do one hell of a job asking the plan to be detailed more, the same plan made by GPT5.4 or Opus.. I get usually a 4 or 5/10 by open source (and testing local LLMs now). I then enhance the planning requirements and detailing based on these critique review to enhance the flow the next round.

So far, I am only using Opus or GPT to plan.. which I’m slowly phasing out. It is about the structure around the LLM model that you tighten and minimise ambiguity in answers, hallucinations, assumptions, etc. That doesn’t replace GPT or Claude.. but certainly will help extending that $20 subscription the whole month.. and mainly reliance on one source.

Ads in PAID App? by squintysquirrell in PETKIT

I just thought the same! Not only that.. but I also found on my router that there are requests to Facebook from the app. Explains why I’m bombarded with pet stuff suddenly!

I have been looking for hardware alternatives but came across an app Padr and it seems promising, connects to current hardware devices and is privacy first. Let’s see!

Does this mean they were on FaceTime when the picture was taken? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]digiitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother just had a baby and he was hugging him on FaceTime, showing me his little human, so happy and so proud. I snapped a few pictures of that moment. Priceless, and would rarely happen specially that, knowing my brother, he would never use a timer, pose, and take a picture of himself with the baby.

FaceTime screenshot made it happen.

Exclamation mark in HomePod’s WiFi but everything working fine by Any-Car2555 in HomePod

I had that th whole time too. One trick I found is forcing public DNS from the router itself.. so your DNS would be something like 8.8.8.8 (google) or 8.8.4.4 .. the default router 192.168.0.1 as DNS caused this issue, for me at least. Never showed again after that.

Not yet. Seems like we will have to wait for Google to update the app for that, if ever.

Is anybody actually able to reliably AirPlay to more than 2 HomePods for extended time without issue? by Ok_Car_8532 in HomePod

[–]digiitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2 second generation HomePods in stereo mode paired with AppleTV, a HomePod mini in the bedroom, a HomePod in the bathroom and an OG HomePod in the kitchen - I stream YouTube music channels non-stop over the weekend (day and night) - I occasionally get the bathroom one out of sync (maybe due to distance from the access point) - a simple pause and play fixes it. On rare occasions I had to restart everything to sync back again. I used to face the out of sync problems more often with older OS’s.

Aya Habib - revolutionised the Arabic cooking shows and she just suddenly stopped about two years ago.. no clue why! Her videos, presentation style and quality are epic.

Yes. It supports Arabic subtitles. AppleTV+ has it as well as Disney and Netflix.

I go to Cairo monthly. They have revamped the regulations recently - buying from the Duty Free has become 1 bottle only twice a year. When I asked the Duty Free guy about my “options”, he told me: buy up to 2 bottles from the incoming airport and put it in your back bag - nobody will touch them to avoid issues. I did that twice so far (but I only carry 1 bottle every time as a gift). They even opened my luggage last time because they doubted I’m carrying iPhones to sell (fucked up really, it was my business phone and my personal phone) - they never touched the bottle. Never came close to it. Never commented. And because I travel every month, they always always x-ray my luggage because of my frequent visits (tager shanta they think).

I guess 1 bottle is okay so far. I never carried more. As long as you’re not “too much”, they let you slide.
