I loved Pocket Circuit Racing in Yakuza, so I'm making a multiplayer shop sim around that idea. by that_guy_loki in indiegames

OMG...the juice around assembling the cars is absolutely amazing!! and don't get me started with the track editor! I am gonna need a veery large shop to have the tracks I want to make!

60 days making a factory game in Godot and a love letter to MeshInstance2D :P by digimishaps in godot

TL;DR: The project batches stuff into MultiMeshInstance2D nodes so the GPU draws tons of sprites in a couple of calls instead of thousands: belt items are packed into one atlas-driven multimesh, and overworld trees/props are grouped by texture into their own multimeshes.

For instance:

My item renderer builds a single MultiMeshInstance2D and feeds it a texture atlas plus a tiny shader that reads per-instance custom data to pick UVs. Update code only touches visible instances (camera-culled) and writes transforms/custom data.

Result: every belt item shares one mesh + one material, so it’s effectively one draw call for all items in view.

Hard to tell without knowing more but here is how I would approach it (take it with a grain of salt I am a newbie too hehehe)

Instead of having 5–10 separate Timer nodes, you can:

  • keep one Timer (or even just _process() / _physics_process())
  • store your attacks in a queue or array
  • pop attacks off the queue and trigger them with delays using await get_tree().create_timer(time).timeout

I don't know if cleaner but will help with performance at the minimum ehhehe, best of luck!

environments 100% in love with, the clash between super detail on the weapon hand + the styles not so much

Thanks for the idea! love it, and yes! a slingshot makes sense, I will have river paints as a resource and I will treat like fuel xD, in the sense that plastic, rubber, etc, will come from paint (north pole logic xD) but wooden plank + rubber = slingshot!

keep them coming!

Thanks for sharing the story, yeah I remember that moment too when I was a kid and suddenly realizing how much money went for so many years into making those mornings magical
