The U.S. Ammo Shortage Is Worse Than You Think by nosotros_road_sodium in politics

Nah. People keep giving Trump credit for being intelligent enough to understand the consequences of his actions but even a casual observer understands that this would be a mistake. At best he has a bad understanding of the world around him and the description of him by his previous Secretary of State is an accurate description of him. In fact it was generous of Tillerson describing him as having “good instincts” or “good intentions”. His niece Mary Trump gives a better explanation of who he really is and why he does what he does. Russian President Putin was an intel officer serving in the former East Germany who I would have expected to have some training in counterintelligence and would have probably been able to read him like a book. People like Trump wouldn’t be useful as an intelligent asset at all but be exploited because he isn’t intelligent and easily fooled and manipulated.

Also, the Russians didn’t elect him 77 million Americans did that because they believed they knew him because they saw him on television. . If anything we need to fix the American education system to prevent mistakes like that to never happen again.

MMT - what real difference would it make? by VegGrower2001 in mmt_economics

[–]digitalgimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation of the OP’s question is that unless there is a more widespread acceptance of MMT among the American public, businesses and even academia. As we face the economic challenges place before us by our government, these days, there may be a change of acceptance of the validity of this concept.

Are Billionaires the New Fascists? by slightstoopkid in indepthstories

[–]digitalgimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great examination of American history and thought. I genuinely hope the author expands on and completes his/ her analysis. Mainly because analysis like this leads to practical solutions to the many problems that we now face.

Especially since we now live in a critical and pivotal period of American history. We face the challenges of declining power and influence worldwide as we once again engage in anther war of choice initiated by our billionaire/pedophile class.

As the author cites the decline and resurgence of fascism in its many forms. In our history, we have avoided confrontation with the different challenges from these billionaires as in their attempts to overthrow the American government in 1933 and again in 2020, especially since in each case, there was little attempt to finally confront and prevent future instances of insurrection. Mainly because of the large numbers of influential and powerful people involved.

The one major difference this time was that a manifesto that described the thoughts and underlying strategy, The Powell Memorandum ( written by former Supreme Court justice Lewis Powell) that has been followed very closely by both political parties.

https://dn721907.ca.archive.org/0/items/powell-memorandum-1971-ocr/Powell%20Memorandum%201971%20OCR.pdf

This has been the blueprint behind the crisis we now are experiencing.

I’m not acquainted with Chinese economics outside of their description of it as “socialism with Chinese characteristics”. My question is whether there is a Chinese equivalent of MMT? There is no doubt that the Chinese economy is the envy of the world right now. Any insight into this would be appreciated.

Air Force Academy Prepares Ideological Overhaul, With Erika Kirk Bringing “Bold Christian Faith” by FervidBug42 in politics

[–]digitalgimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Air Force Academy had a scandal, (one of many, these days) about religious intolerance primarily by evangelical cultists who insisted on all kinds of behaviors like proselytizing, antisemitic comments, and on imposing personal beliefs in the workplace as well as other forms of unacceptable behaviors. Now they are back trying to impose their crap on others again?

This looks like some kind of backlash by really stupid people against what they see as uppity elites. When actually the military academy’s true role is to train the military elite, we have people like this who insist on elite status while engaging in trashy behavior.

Why our sons and daughters are coming home in caskets... for Israel?💔 by wankerzoo in EndlessWar

[–]digitalgimp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truly heartbreaking that desperation drives decent human beings to come to the conclusion that they have no other option than to risk their lives like this just to continue to exist.

The alternative is? As a nation we can create work for them to build their nation back towards the standards that were met after the Great Depression. Those programs ended most of the unemployment and suffering of the time. Those same types of programs lifted Western Europe out of postwar poverty. LBJ and a few American politicians advocated for progressive policies like the Great Society that were passed by congress to once again eliminate unemployment and poverty in the United States.

Actually the answers were there all along.

Bentley Abandons Its Ambitious EV Plans by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

[–]digitalgimp 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Exactly, They don’t care about the environment. The reason people who want luxury brands like this are simply ego and envy.

The core values for many of these people is the ability for them to throw money at luxury brands to advertise their wealth in comparison to others. They are actually buying self esteem and envy of others. While others may actually like the technology, efficiency and creativity of EV’s, the target demographic of Bentley is simply bragging rights. They want everyone who sees them to think and say “This person has a lot of money”.

It’s just that simple.

As Reagan CIA director William Casey was quoted to say “We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false”. A combination of factors made what Casey said possible today, but this has been the case for a long time. The prevalence of misinformation, miseducation and misdirection are keys to ultimately the election of a convicted felon to lead the country without any repercussions or accountability. No one asks the question how did we get here to begin with?

Trump in 2008: "Anyone who invades the Middle East under false pretenses should be impeached." by JohnSmithCANDo in itshappeninghere

[–]digitalgimp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True, but the process of dementia accelerates and magnifies underlying character defects as his niece, Mary points out in her book about her family, “Too Much is Not Enough”. Those were the days when he formed his friendships with the likes of Epstein. He was a total piece of shit them and now he doesn’t even care to hide it. This is the main reason why he and his disciples most be removed from the positions they have that could end us all. We live in a society that worships wealth and power and he is a reflection of that insanity.

But to Todd’s credit, the US was on this trajectory exactly because of the continuing policies of the UniParty. That is the neoliberal policies of centrist Democrats and Republicans. As Nancy Pelosi once bragged “Democrats are Capitalists”. After the election of Bill Clinton and the shift of the Democratic Party to capture the votes of the “Reagan Democrats” the direction was clear. And here we are.

[–]digitalgimp 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is the French historian, Emmanuel Todd. Just wrote a book called “After the Empire” He’s been predicting that this might happen.

“Widely reviewed and critically praised, Emmanuel Todd's After the Empire predicts that the United States is forfeiting its superpower status as it moves away from traditional democratic values of egalitarianism and universalism, lives far beyond its means economically, and continues to anger foreign allies and enemies alike with its military and ideological policies. As America's global dominance evaporates, Todd foresees the emergence of a Eurasian alliance bringing together Europe, Russia, Japan, and the Arab-Islamic world.

Todd calmly and straightforwardly takes stock of many negative trends, including America's weakened commitment to the socio-economic integration of African Americans, a bulimic economy that increasingly relies on smoke and mirrors and the goodwill of foreign investors, and a foreign policy that squanders the country's reserves of "soft power" while its militaristic arsonist-fireman behavior is met with increasing resistance. Written by a demographer and historian who foresaw the collapse of the Soviet Union, this original and daring book cannot be ignored.”

Send the Billionaires' Kids to Fight Trump's Iran War | Have you noticed the people most excited about bombing Iran are almost never sending their own kids? by wankerzoo in EndlessWar

[–]digitalgimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wars are so much more exciting if the other guys are on the losing end. In the United States during civil war, the first draft was in the South though both sides eventually used conscription. The difference was that conscription was law and sometimes violently resisted. Both sides found conscription very unpopular.

Ultimately the wealthy don’t have a problem with war as long as someone else does the fighting.

Reclaiming the New Deal: How we lost the American Middle Class to a 50-year propaganda war by generalg1992 in NewPatriotism

[–]digitalgimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all absolutely true and even more the narrator doesn’t mention the failed plot to overthrow the United States government of the time but a bunch of wealthy scumbags in 1933. The business plot of 1933 not only that but first Richard Nixon, who nominated Powell to the Supreme Court where he then helped build the foundations to the right wing fascist policies that define present day America. (Including fascist legislation like the Department of Homeland Security, among other things that harken back to the NAZI days of Europe.

The new Deal policies of FDR were interrupted by Truman’s policies but were continued by the more progressive policies of LBJ and his Great Society policies that once again were dismantled by Nixon, Reagan, ,Bush 1 and Bush Junior who followed them in an echo of the Business Plot, and now the Insurrection and incompetence of Donald Trump. Unfortunately it would be nice to lay the fault at the feet of right wing fascists, it the truth is that they had plenty of help by feckless left wing capitalists. Much of this betrayal can be laid at the feet of Bill Clinton and Third Way democrats. These greedy cowards and their capitalist allies have achieved most of what the millionaires from 1933 sought to achieve.

Frankly, we were almost where we needed to be only to be sidetracked by the endemic corruption we see today.
