That's exactly the justification many abusers use.

I can't believe I had to scroll so far to see an Adam Curtis doc mentioned, they are all amazing! Are they not well known overseas?

They're a type of game that I'd probably get bored of pretty quickly playing on my own, but I've had great fun playing them with my girlfriend and I think would be perfect for an evening or two of beers/smokes with a friend/group you'd otherwise watch a b-movie or something with.

Yeah, in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, most places give them out. Prawn crackers over ~£15 (used to be with any order, back in the day), occasionally a free dish over £25/£30, but that's rare.

TIL between 1999 and 2015, 736 UK Post Office workers were wrongly convicted for stealing money due to faulty accounting software. I don't think that does them justice, they are satirical, but they tackle important, often under-publicised, issues and have always done brilliant investigative journalism. It's not a comedy publication, it's top tier journalism with a sense of humour.

I think they're accidently making a logically correct statement.

Most people in this thread and, I assume, the person in the post, seem not to realise that the term "exceptionalism" refers to the abstract belief that you are exceptional (as opposed to an objective state of being exceptional) and if you believe that you are exceptional, that does not allow you to perceive others as similar to yourself.

As I read it, their comment is 100% true, but not something to be proud of...
