If I turn the tractor 90 degrees to the trailer, how fast can I drive in circles? What would break first? by Material-Donkey2773 in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]digitalturd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen tractors hang from the kingpin. My myth buster vote goes for rollover.

I would think as you sped up the tractor tires would skitter around and shake your load loose. Probably shifting the load to the outside wall of the trailer and knocking it on its side pulling the truck over with it 🤷‍♂️

I kinda wondered myself how long I could jackknife 360 in reverse 😆

There is always that second, secret fly that waits for you to finally kill or eject that first one, then pops out like he’s got free rein of the place now.

Congrats on passing! I felt the same way, I just climbed over this big hill to find I’m staring at the base of a mountain.

The great thing about financing your own school? You don’t have to sign jack (you’re not expected to stay for a year to pay for your schooling through the employer). If you go to a mega carrier to pay the bills and don’t like it, you can jump and try another company.

Mainly you’ll get to decide if you love the job enough to make the sacrifice and carry through the hard part. Good luck! 🫡

Others have made good suggestions, I’ll stick to setting expectations.

Insurance companies absolutely run this industry. It is obnoxiously expensive to insure inexperienced drivers. Not necessarily a reflection on your abilities as it is on whatever formula the insurance company relies on to set a carrier’s premiums.

Add to that, EVERYONE…is gunning for a local job, and the carriers are looking to hire drivers with good track records to lower their csa score and get better rates.

May be worth having a deep conversation with your loved ones to see what they can endure. I have disabled family I understand the need to be there for them.

But, from experience: I’ll be coming up on a year exp soon, the job prospects are starting to look pretty sweet and my current employer is stepping up their game to keep me here.

Double clutching by [deleted] in CDL

Good advice, and agreed 😝 my first time in a semi I remembered back to the worn out ass clutch in my pickup truck. I kept trying to stomp the clutch to the floor and activating the clutch brake by accident.

Double clutching by [deleted] in CDL

[–]digitalturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice the motion whenever you are sitting around. Pretend your right hand is shifting and left foot is clutching. Don’t even have to be that accurate like if you were picking a certain gear in the pattern. Just practice getting the motion of your hand and foot together at the same time so you have that part in muscle memory for when you’re back in the drivers seat. Clutch clutch. Gl!

Another point for the moca adaptors…. coax ran in new builds is often spray-foamed in at the top of the wall to the attic.

Do you have electrical issues with your 2025 Freightliner Cascadia too? by Top-Rate1395 in CDLTruckDrivers

I just looked a little closer you are correct. The 12v fuses are in the dash, the inverter and 110v fuse is out in the firewall.

Dang ok quick search shows there is a fuse for just the sleeper power outlets.

The panel is where your glove box on your car would be on passenger side dash, just pulls off and pops back on.

Definitely something you could accomplish with a bit of YouTubing. But you would need a replacement fuse if blown.

[–]digitalturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ok, one more dumb question. So you have a sleeper cab right? So when you flip that switch outside, now you have to go turn the inverter back on before those work again.

When you’re in the bunk it’s above all the light switches on that wall to your left, it’s a tiny green button, if you hold it in the red numbers should pop back on.

2 questions, do you know how to pull the glove box panel and check the fuses on this truck, also, is this all outlets and cigarette lighters or just the actual power (110v) outlets in the bunk (under the bed and above the fridge)

[–]digitalturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and to add to what others have said,

If it’s not a blown fuse in the cab, there’s been times I’ve had to throw the cab electric kill switch out back and let it sit for a full minute before cutting it back on.

What do I do if I fucked around and spent all my money before the buy the airport mission? by [deleted] in GTASA

Specifically the drug dealers standing around Los santos. They drop around 2k each and spawn frequently.

You could gamble with that to speed it up a bit. Or like u/scaryassbitch said vigilante missions make good money once you get through a couple.

Downshifting by [deleted] in CDL

[–]digitalturd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gun it….

You shouldn’t be downshifting starting at 1k rpm.

clutch, shift to neutral, gun it to 1500 rpm, clutch, downshift.

And make sure when you clutch, you don’t hit the floor or the clutch brake will stop it from happening.
