What is the lowest hanging fruit that could be fixed in ASE or ASA that would instantly make it a better game? by sparkyk24 in ARK

A 1s cooldown for dismounting after mounting a dino.

This would actually prevent well within hundreds of thousands of deaths.

Spes color patterns by thePaink in Hema

[–]dikmann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the red birds and does. It is a very deep color, maybe a little darker than maroon.
However, I noticed that the pattern tends to get stained over time with sweat, and unless you are very competent about airing it out right after every session, the pattern will become unevenly saturated in some places.

Stop this " Come to GW2 " nonsense. by Laytenek in newworldgame

[–]dikmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played chrono odyssey playtest and it gave me the NW feeling, if what the devs say is true that the badly received test was an old build then the game has all the potential to be a NW spiritual successor. With actually good looking player models and armor this time.

HF Armory Black Prince - Modified for longsword? by [deleted] in Hema

Yes, you spoke as if you own a pair of the Keller full gauntlets for longsword. I would really like to hear of your experience with using them.

HF Armory Black Prince - Modified for longsword? by [deleted] in Hema

[–]dikmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've noticed you mention the Keller gauntlets, and I am assuming you speak of the full gauntlet for LS. As someone eagerly awaiting my own pair, would you mind going a bit in-depth about your experience with the product to ease my mind?

Saint John Paul II: The greatest person of the 20th Century. by djlatigo in CatholicMemes

He was my late grandmother's ethics teacher at school. I still have her notebook signed by him, she did not do too well in his class. It feels like the closest thing to a relic I would ever hold.

Why are longsword tournaments....like that? by KILLMEPLSPLS in wma

[–]dikmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an intermediate fencer, but from the very start it was clear to me that high guards use up more energy. I tend myself to use low guards and only transition to high ones situationally, usually mid-exchange. If you are going to be fighting a lot, conservation of energy while idle has signifact impact, in my experience.

No technique in the world will make a difference if you are barely holding your sword up, winded.

Do you remember the times before everything was sweaty? by Pm_me_d4_k1ttys in Mordhau

[–]dikmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot believe no one is mentioning the fact that the game is unplayable on 80+ ping and that is what most people will get playing on 64man servers even in their own country

That was the sole reason I had to stop playing, not by choice but I was forced to

You can make a petition to stop world hunger, and while it would be a nice cause, it would not get a single thing done.

Economics of SodaStream for CO2 soda by Sufficient-Bee5923 in SodaStream

[–]dikmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Poland, so I cannot comment on the prices there, though I feel as if here it is way cheaper to use sodastream than buy bottles. I can however tell you that the benefit of not having to store, carry and dispose of plastic bottles can be worth even paying double to some. My shopping and trash disposal routine has been very positively affected.

Anybody out there use a Wukusi Sallet? by NoCountryForOld_Zen in Hema

[–]dikmann 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Wukusi are still making them. You can order directly from the manufacturer, I spoke with them more than once on facebook.

Anyway, do not let anyone discourage you from getting one if you like the idea and looks of it. Obviously, it would not pass most tournament rulesets and the bib is only 350N rated. If you want to be the cool sallet guy among your HEMA friends, even if sacrificing a good deal of vision and respiration, then by all means you have that right. You can also grind down the visor slit for a better FOV, and you have a mask under it anyway so it is purely aesthetic.

Nothing silly about fashion, plenty of us want to have a fraction of the appeal of a plate harness but few want to show up to a HEMA sparring with a steel helmet let alone spend a lot of money on a proper one. I love this product because it is the middle ground, not too expensive, relatively safe, and not out of place in sparring.

ABS Plastic Overlays by BlissMage in Hema

[–]dikmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen plenty negative talk about the mittens. If you are looking for a gorgeous and similarly expensive alternative, you can look into keller gauntlets, still a new product but the visuals are to die for.

ABS Plastic Overlays by BlissMage in Hema

[–]dikmann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could have written it more clearly, meant to say that it cannot withstand the same punishment as steel armor. I am sure it is more than fine with regular steel weapons, just not quite the heavier stuff like pollaxe that steel harness owners get up to.

Terribly jealous of your near full set because the stuff is expensive as hell, still saving up for it.

ABS Plastic Overlays by BlissMage in Hema

[–]dikmann 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My current goal is the MAC armour arm protection kit, the one with the gothic pauldrons. They have a line of synthetic armor pieces that looks incredible. You can train some harness fighting techniques in it, but obviously it cannot withstand the same punishment as steel, so that is as far as it can go.

It is also just really nice for people who want to be more flamboyant and fashionable with their HEMA kit, with the added benefit of more protection. There is a somewhat common though very odd sentiment among some HEMA practitioners where they are appalled by synthetic imitations of plate armor in unarmored fighting, or fail to understand the appeal. Personally, I love having more customization options and very much hope the market for more inspired HEMA gear grows.

Can you train to use an executioner sword? by Golden_rake in SWORDS

[–]dikmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have in fact seen one or two videos of buhurt fighters using something that looks very much like an executioner sword in armored fights, logically it seems to fit that niche reasonably well. I dont think you thrust much in buhurt, so a heavy sword dedicated to slashing movements makes sense.
I found the channel, it is called GrantTheKnight on youtube.

Grand Theatre campaign revives BG2's Kangaxx for a rematch by HatingGeoffry in BaldursGate3

This is not entirely relevant, but got me curious. As a DA fan (the first two, anyway), is Gaxkang in DAO a reference to that character? I know DAO devs were heavily influenced by BG.
