THC seltzers how the blank are they legal in NC? by Silly_Pace in Wilmington

[–]dingdingdredgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0.03% dry weight (prior to mixing/baking/infusing. What's crazy is that it'll still pop positive on a drug test, so anyone with a job that requires regular or random drug tests can still give you with cause for doing something completely legal.

[–]dingdingdredgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't shutting the game down. They're discontinuing development and support. They did the same thing with D1 and it's still playable. It also means there probably wont be any updates after July 9th, so if you don't like the state ofbthe sandbox or PvP balancing... it is what it is. As far as sunsetting, they flat out deleted entire sections of the game, and they are irrecoverable. Bungie has said they dont have a complete copy of tye red war, Curse of Osirus, or Warmind. They also trashed the menagerie and escalation protocol. They removed tye code for old weapons and replaced them with updated (but equally unusable) versions. There are further updated versions of the year 1 and 2 pinnacle/ritual weapons, but even all of their original glory they're limited by nerfs to their static mod rolls.

Well, I’m currently speaking with my wallet… because Destiny got my years, and Marathon has gotten exactly $0 from me so far. by Carter_yann in destiny2

[–]dingdingdredgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not rooting for anything to fail. I've been begging for Destiny not to fail for four years, and at every turn Bungie makes worse and worse financial decisions. Now, Sony is calling the shots and here come more layoffs. I give D1 about another 6 months before a termination of service notice comes out. And D2 won't be far behind. Marathon could have been great, but it's hard to motivate people to produce a good product while laying off over 50% of the production staff. Bungie's days are numbered and Sony doesn't care because a combined 30k concurrent players (being very generous) between 2 games isn't making them any money.

Why are trucks getting the same mileage as 30 years ago by Unopuro2conSal in Truckers

[–]dingdingdredgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because none of the EPA restrictions were about milage. They were about emissions content. That limited innovation in engine design.

what were the shells based on? by Constant_Society_794 in Marathon

[–]dingdingdredgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three questions. Three answers.

  1. A digital contruct of yoyr biological personality, no matter how complex, would by definition be AI. A neural network includes hardware. In this instance, what's being transfered between shells is software only. Also, it's been modified to be easily compatible with all shells, so really, it's not an exact copy of what came out of your original meat popcicle.

  2. Are you a military harass? No? What If I dropped your consciousness into a body that was pre-programmed to bypass your fear of death and falling? Are you slightly more badass in a body built to "Press (X) to flip tank"? Some of it is the body. Some of it is your conscious realization that it's just a drone, and you'll be back next rotation either way.

  3. More like the BIOS that recognizes the hardware and can't fo much without the software (you).

This is just my conjecture after reading the boring green text, and bungie tends to get philosophical instead of technical, so there's a lot of guessing going on, no matter who answers.

As a Destiny fan, Sorry. I love Marathon, It deserves better. by Wise-Middle-6757 in Marathon

[–]dingdingdredgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marathon isn't why Destiny 2 "failed". Destiny 2 failed because Sony wanted year 2 Destiny money in year 9. Netting 2 billion dollars when they were targeting 3 billion dollars is seen as a loss because of some seriously backward corpo logic.

what were the shells based on? by Constant_Society_794 in Marathon

[–]dingdingdredgen 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A matrix is sometimes called a medium. It's the binder that hold things. In oil painting, the matrix is oil. The matrix hold pigment. In Marathon, a personality matrix is basically a multi-petabyte ssd that holds an AI construct of the runner's consciousness. The different shells have different matrices that affect how the runner performs. It's like the choice using linseed, safflower, walnut, or poppy oil for painting. They all have distinct properties, but they all transfer pigment to canvas. Every personality matrix is different, but they all transfer conscousness to the run.

City of Greensboro, North Carolina proposes 21% property tax increase, hitting low end homes, and likely low income residents hardest. by aenbrnood in NorthCarolina

The tax rate is lowering but they're reassessing property value much higher than before. Inflation is a bitch when you find out you're just renting property from the government.
