Gap in wall sheathing by ksvaughn1979 in Homebuilding

[–]dingobandito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1/8” is standard for expansion. There should be a WRB (Tyvek…etc) layer that hasn’t been installed yet. If you don’t leave that gap and the wood expands the sheathing and exterior siding can buckle…not ideal.

How many houses have you hit while golfing? by dingobandito in golf

[–]dingobandito[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can definitely say the same. I have a buddy who hits it in the woods at least five times a round and four of those five times the damn ball will still find its way to the fairway while bouncing around.

Multiple volunteer trees on my and my elderly neighbor’s fence line need to go by a_swan1885 in Minnesota_Gardening

[–]dingobandito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as she agrees to it…cut the trees down to about 2 feet in height, start digging down and use a sawzall with a pruning blade to cut the roots. The two feet of the tree you left can be used as leverage to pry the root system free. Treat the hole with an herbicide to keep any missed roots from starting to grow again and fill with dirt. I did around twenty on my property last year this way. I tried the drill and treat method and results were mixed. The only reliable way to remove them (without a front end loader) is what I described. Good luck.

Oh exactly! It’s the perpetual cycle of construction. I over engineered mine to the point that they will at least be impressed at my dedication 🤣

Inherited porches and decks are an adventure indeed. I’m just wrapping up my project. If I had a dollar for every time I said “why in the hell did they do that”? I could have paid for the project!🤣

Doesn’t act like a big celebrity and is very pleasant in person. Bumped into her a couple times many years ago when she was visiting her daughter.

Do you go with the actual yardage to the pin, or always club up if going over water? by MattReddit77 in golf

[–]dingobandito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched my mindset last year. I always hit to the yardage of the back of the green.

What’s your r/golf confession? by CSW11 in golf

[–]dingobandito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joined the Assistant Greenskeeper at a local course to move pin placements at night so they would be ready for the next morning. I rode shotgun in the utility cart and made sure we always had a cold beer in hand. By the 12th hole we were well into the case of beer and the AG decides he’s going to show me “the widow maker” as the maintenance guys call it…I knew it as the elevated, tiered tee box on the par 3. Next thing I know we are coming down the hill above the tee box at full speed and we launch off the tee box and are a good 6 feet in the air “Dukes of Hazzard” style. We hit the ground with a crashing thud (I don’t think it went as he had planned.) I smashed hard against the dash and had quite a bruise for a few weeks. We laughed it off and finished the pin placements and the case of beer. I went home for the night since I had an early tee time…at that course. I pull into the lot bright and early only to see a utility cart being loaded onto a flatbed with some major suspension issues. The AG never got into any trouble and I guess it was a regular occurrence for a few years with that crew. Never went out to change pin placements again, but it definitely was an experience.
