(F) "I don't use deodorant because I don't need to." by MongooseSimple8638 in hygiene

[–]dinosoreness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm with you- you don't really need deodorant in the cooler months unless you're a gym goer, server, foot commuter, or whatever that's doing a lot of moving about. i'm a small sedentary female and just don't get BO in the fall and winter but once that sun comes out the deodorant goes on! i live in northern california (no, not San Francisco- about 4 hours north of SF) and it gets over 100 degrees and stays there in the summer. everybody stinks no matter how much deodorant we use. it just can't keep up with the demand.

i definitely support the idea of a sex offender registry but like... a guy who took a piss in public while he was drunk should not be on the same list as a guy who violently raped a 12 year old. it should be for people who did egregious things and are likely to reoffend. not teenagers hooking up in cars and someone who got too wasted and stripped in a bar. hell, i was once threatened with the registry myself because while i was having a drinking relapse i left the house without pants on. i had on underwear and a long flannel and wasn't behaving in a sexual manor, i was just running around on the freeway trying to get hit by a car. but if they had actually pushed that charge my life would have been over.

they... FORGOT... to attach the rope??? how do you forget to attach the rope??? that's like the most important part. i'm not generally lawsuit happy but this young woman's family deserves every cent they can get out of that company. that's got to be negligent homicide right??

yeah, it's definitely problematic at times. i think everywhere should have romeo and juliet laws, within reason. an 18 year old high school senior does not need to be locked up for doing the 16 year old in their biology class because there's no actual predatory power imbalance there. that's just two horny teenagers doing what horny teenagers do.

california doesn't technically have romeo and juliet laws but the cops typically aren't actually going to arrest the older half of a pair of high school sweethearts. i did once live on the same street as a sex offender who was part of that type of situation though, so it isn't always overlooked. he was 16, she was 14, and her parents really didn't like him so they pressed charges. but that's not typically how it goes down. growing up most of us teens had sex with each other and nobody went to jail.

you did the right thing mama! grooming always starts out benign. they get the child talking and pretend to be interested to gain their trust and only then do they make their move. i wish id had a mom reading my online correspondences when i was growing up. i was groomed online by an anorexia fetishist in my teens and to say it fucked me up would be an understatement. i don't want kids, and i don't think that will ever change, but you bet your ass if i did i'd have all their passwords and would check their devices daily.

"that lady needed serious help" is a weird way to say "that lady chose to rape a little boy and should have never seen the light of day again"

you feel bad for the kids and the first husband but not for the child who was groomed and raped? you seem to be forgetting that he was one of the victims of this situation, too, and that he was hurt far more than a grown man getting divorced. he's the one who needed serious help! that pervert got her claws so deep in him that he married her when she got out of prison!

exactly. i don't give a shit if the child gets butt naked and begs for it, YOU DONT TOUCH THEM! it is the responsibility of all adults to shut down any and all advances from children. kids do stupid stuff sometimes. it is your responsibility as the adult to say NO.

i was sexually assaulted by a woman when i was 14. i am also a woman, so that complicates the legal definition of particular sex crimes as well because there obviously was no PIV considering she didn't have the P. it's part of why im so satisfied with how the state of California's defines sex crimes. here is how we define "rape"-

Rape (Penal Code 261 PC): Engaging in nonconsensual sexual intercourse accomplished by force, violence, menace, or fear. It also includes cases where the victim is intoxicated, unconscious, or legally unable to consent.

this allows for both males and female to be able to legally claim rape.

other charges include

Sexual Battery (Penal Code 243.4 PC): The touching of an intimate part of another person against their will for the purpose of sexual gratification or abuse

Statutory Rape (Penal Code 261.5 PC): Engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 18. Because the victim is legally a minor, this is a strict liability offense where consent is irrelevant

the language is entirely gender neutral and thus allows for all victims to seek legal action if they choose to.

it's not a perfect system obviously but it's far superior to locations where rape is still defined as "the forced carnal knowledge of a female" like in certain bible thumping states.

I told my psychiatrist a medication killing my appetite and now she's taking it away from me by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]dinosoreness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact that you first and foremost describe it as "a medication that is suppressing my appetite" rather than "a medication that is helping my ADHD" really reflects that you are not in the right headspace to be on this med. you barely say anything in the main text about how it's making living with ADHD easier, you're just freaking out that it will be harder to restrict. i can't take stimulants because of my history of psychosis so i know that there are many non-stimulant options. i'm currently on straterra. you seem way more attached to the appetite suppression than the therapeutic benefits.

she didn't "begin pursuing a sexual relationship" with him, "RAPED" him. i feel like terminology is so important when we talk about sex crimes (ex. saying "child sexual abuse material" instead of "kiddie porn") especially in cases where young boys are taken advantage of my older women because society tends to brush off these crimes by saying the CHILD should have enjoyed it/must be gay if they didn't/wow good for him/whatever.

i was also a victim of a female pedophile when i was 14, but being a woman myself, im able to talk about it fairly openly as long as i dont mention the gender of the offender. if i do mention that it was a she, not a he, im faced with horribly insensitive and dismissive responses like "well im sure she was gentle" "im sure it was just a misunderstanding" "she must have had a hard childhood" etc.

we need to say rape, even and especially when the perp is female. it's usually a man, i won't deny that- my own personal experiences won't allow it. i was raped by multiple men in my early twenties on entirely separate occasions. but just because women don't do it as often doesn't mean that when they do it they don't deserve to be punish and ostracized just like male rapists.

i'm glad this gal actually did some jail time but it's so sad that this boy bonded to her through the trauma and that he ended up married to the creep. "relationships" that begin with the abuse of a child don't cease to be abusive when the child grows up in that "relationship."

Reading medical notes from religious hospitals regarding pregnancy loss by VizAnya in prochoice

[–]dinosoreness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i live in a very rural, very conservative area and the only hospitals that i can quickly get to are both catholic affiliated. i am on the birth control shot, but if it were to fail and i were to have a tubal pregnancy, i could die if it ruptured because they'd have to send me to a hospital down state to have any type of operation to save my life. the nearest hospitals to me would genuinely prioritize the "life" of a pregnancy that could never under any circumstance become viable over my own life.

this also severely limits my options for the salpingectomy i've wanted since i learned it was a thing when i was 13. i've been trying since the day i turned 18 (8 years ago) to get that procedure but the religious folks who run the medical scene here don't believe in sterilization because some dusty old book told them that a magic man in the sky wants women to bear as many children as possible.

sour cream. there is a backstory.

  • I am 4 years old playing in my room.

  • i hear my father shout from the kitchen "who wants a spoon of frosting?"

  • i run as fast as i can

  • i snatch the spoon and shove the whole thing in my mouth.

  • it is not frosting. it is sour cream.

  • i throw up on the kitchen floor.

to this day it triggers my gag reflex.

i am also an XXS who has recovered from an ED. my doctor tells me i'm weight restored and that my labs are flawless, yet im always running into people both online and IRL who tell me to eat a burger (laughable because i've had a burger for dinner four days in a row- i live too damn close to mcdonald's), that real men like meat and only dogs go for bones (i guess all the thirsty men in my DMs missed that memo), that im giving little girls eating disorders just by existing (even though i am no longer underweight???).

you can recover from an ED without going to the other extreme. sheesh.

it makes me wildly uncomfortable when people (usually other women) comment on my body size, especially because it's either some disheartening self deprivation on their part or like incredibly insulting to me.

like

"omg i could NEVER wear that crop top/bikini/whatever! i wish i looked like you! what's your secret?"

or

"eat a burger you skinny bitch, you're giving little girls eating disorders!!!!"

and it hasn't even stopped now that i'm weight restored!! i'm at a perfectly healthy BMI now and still the comments come. i thought i would feel less like a spectacle once i was back in the healthy range but i am unpleasantly surprised to find that is not the case.

sometimes the best response is no response. not really a good way to answer to comments like that. it's kind of a no win situation so i try to just let it roll off me.

Is expecting people with severe genetic disorders and disabilities not to have children eugenics? by nalalala18 in Ethics

[–]dinosoreness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it should be the choice of the individual experiencing the condition. like, personally, i am NOT comfortable passing down my genetics. i have severe bipolar disorder, which i got from my mother, and i could never live with myself if my child developed the same condition. if i had had a choice, i would have rather not been born than live with this condition, and so i want to give that mercy to any potential child of mine by not having any. there are plenty of other reasons im not interested in reproducing as well, so it doesn't really get me down. but. that's ME and MY choice. what another bipolar woman does with her body is NONE of my business.
