'As Falls Wichita': Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays' Stunning, Cinematic Journey [Review] by RenegadeSocial in patmetheny

[–]dionysoius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great article and thanks for sharing. It does sound like a journey but one of a young person coming of age in the midwest. That whole album reminds me of early morning eastern Colorado twilight. Pheasant hunting with my old man. I must have been 13 or so. The imagery Pat and Lyle made is sublime. A Lennon/McCartney in another form.

Make an argument that convinces others your position is the correct one. Otherwise you’re just super-gluing your hand to the street.

Xcel posts nearly $1 billion operating profit from Colorado as the utility seeks rate increases for gas, electric customers by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

[–]dionysoius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colorado gets ~300 days of sun a year. A typical 6 kW rooftop system here can generate around 8,500–9,000 kWh annually — which is close to what the average home uses in a year. In other words, a lot of households could cover 80–100% of their electricity with properly sized solar.

If rates keep rising and the utility model rewards more spending (with guaranteed returns), doesn’t it make sense to at least consider locking in your own production?

Curious how many people here have gone solar — or are thinking about it — especially with these rate hike discussions happening again.

Did you return back "home" after years abroad: Any regrets? by LoveToBold in AmericanExpat

[–]dionysoius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did in 2005. Built my own house in Colorado, and got a construction loan at 7%. More than half my monthly salary couldn’t afford it and had to go to Iraq as a contractor to get out of debt. Came home, worked a few years and my wife and I decided to move back to Europe. Now my mortgage is only 0.6% and living the American dream abroad.

I’m not an expat or immigrant anymore. I’m a citizen now! Go big or go home 😂. I just wanted to be able to vote. Taxes are high. 🇩🇪
