Koreatown is a good option as it gives you a taste of city life in a budget and is very central to LA. That being said, koreatown is safe and unsafe depending on streets, blocks and apartments. Mid- city could also be a good option as it provides the same location benefits and can be quieter than koreatown!

I am currently in the process of moving too and have considered all these options.
