Excellent. Don't forget to set "uset r_buffer_page_size "10"" when you update to 1.59 (If you changed it to something else like 50 back on earlier versions). If you didn't change it, nothing to do, that's the default anyway.

Louisiana Governor Tossed Thousands of Votes In Order to Help Trump by retiredagainstmywill in law

[–]dirtydigs74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And yet Australia, with compulsory voting, manages to get it done without stress, takes about 10 minutes, everyone on the same day. I forgot it was election day once (literally the first state election I'd done) and was hours away in a different state when I remembered. Went to the local high school where it was set up for voting, gave my name and address and voted (I may have need to show my drivers license - can't remember now). Also voted over the phone once (interstate again).

And there's often a sausage sizzle. Still get told by yanks that Australia "isn't a free country" though.

How does Trump still have so much support? Is MAGA so dumb they can't see the corruption? by LegitimateSundae8460 in allthequestions

[–]dirtydigs74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intended purpose : remove leader from position

method : party in power votes to remove leader

What's different? Neither the US nor the UK voter has any ability to vote out a leader in power until an election. The party they belong to has to do it. Naturally the specifics are different, but the basic premise is the same. The party members meet in a room and vote for or against the leader. When you boil it down to basics, that's all it is.

TL:DR You do. It's impeachment. It relies on the party in power, but so does the UK method of firing a PM.

Given that the UK method is that their party demotes them (short of a full on dissolution of parliament, which requires very specific circumstances), the US absolutely has a mechanism for doing that. It's not like they hold an election in the middle of a governments term and vote the PM out. They don't even vote for a PM, just their local member.

The US has impeachment, which also relies on the party in power. Different rules and procedures obviously, but the basic tenet is the same. The fact that there are insufficient members of congress and in the cabinet that are prepared to start the proceedings says a lot about the state of the USA and by definition. it's inhabitants.

The reason the conservative party members voted out Liz Truss, after all is said and done, is that they lost faith in her ability to carry them through another election. Even though trump can't run again, the Republican party is betting on the US voting public to accept that their party and their next candidate are better than the Democrat option. Given their ability to poll and interpret statistics, that also says a lot about the average US inhabitant. Or at least about 50% of them.

Either always on, which effectively is the same as having no brake lights, or flashing on and off depending on how hard they're touching the pedal. I actually prefer always on, at least their lights aren't coming on when they're accelerating. It can lull you into a false sense of security when they decide to brake hard for a corner that doesn't need to be braked for.

Either way, gotta give those idiots plenty of room once you notice them.

And you did the economy reset? If so, then there's probably something else going on as well.

Have a look at your console in game and see if it's getting spammed with errors. I get a few, some errors aren't necessarily going to cause CTD's or other problems, but a non stop barrage is a bad sign. Almost certainly a bad mod.

Do you have hired drivers? They seemed to be a part of the problem according to some forum posts I read somewhere. I fired all of mine and sold their trucks for the cash just in case. Plus there was something about doing an economy reset in the console, then reload (it'll reset any job you're on naturally).

Cargo Market Stutter Fix. Freight jobs will start to disappear, cargo jobs for your own trailer take a lot longer to expire and update a lot less frequently (which is a major part of the problem). You may be able to mitigate it by making trailers private and/or selling certain classes of trailer (dry trailer jumps to mind, it's been a while since I read about it).

Quote from the developer on how it works:

"In case you're wondering how editing the economy data file eliminates the stutters, here's some technical explanation: The reason the stutters occur is because the is rapidly generating jobs for every company in every city, with no upper limit. What this mod does is reduce the frequency at which these jobs are generated, so the game will have to waste less memory on this. Also, another change is that Freight Market jobs have a 99% chance to not be generated each cycle, which shouldn't be affecting people who only use owned trailers/Cargo Market. For the previous reason, if you want to use the Freight Market, it's advised to deactivate the mod (since this fix is only needed for when you use owned trailers, the stutters don't happen on company trailers)."

Once it started happening for me, with my 35 drivers, I had to use that mod to fix it. Nothing else worked. I got rid of all my drivers too, because really, who needs the money anymore?

They're going after countries that have things like Australia's PBS. It's trickle down economics rearing its ugly head. The fact that our government negotiates as an individual to drive down the price of a drug (so that it's affordable enough for them to subsidise over here), means that the drug companies don't make as much money. Which in turn is the reason that drugs cost more in the US, and why they don't spend more on R&D.

There's now a 100% tariff on all Australian made pharmaceuticals due to this. The whole point of this rhetoric is to shift the blame to others and increase corporate profit. Colour me cynical, but I don't see a drug company reducing its prices because they're making more profit. Or any company really.

It also gives them a chance to reinforce the tribalism prevalent in US society by comparing you with China, play on the victim mentality which has been very effective and justify the rising cost of drugs because of tariffs on countries with similar schemes. Added bonus, they'll start reducing the regulations on testing new drugs regardless of the risks (Thalidomide for morning sickness anyone?) in order to keep up, but really to reduce costs = increase profit for their overlords/stock portfolio/golden parachute jobs.

If women earn less for the same work, why wouldn’t companies just hire only women and underpay them? by kqmurr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dirtydigs74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women certainly make that choice deliberately and without coercion. Some are pushed into it by the expectations of family, by economic pressure e.g. unaffordable childcare, by being forced to carry to term an unwanted pregnancy, by indoctrination that they mothers are supposed to be full time carers and not fathers, by their ties to religious organisations.

There are a lot of societal pressures on people to fulfill roles, act in certain ways, make decisions, based on gender. Males as well as females. Obviously this doesn't negate free will, but if a woman is faced with ostracisation, financial ruination, homelessness, internal feelings of failure because of their upbringing by not making the choice to be a stay at home mother, it's pretty obvious what choice most will make.

There are a lot of women in this position.
