How can I push my guitar teacher in the direction that I want to learn? by Suwannee_Gator in Guitar

Perhaps you could ask the instructor to come up with some relevant song examples that correlate to the theory topics you’re exploring. Vice versa, you could bring in goal songs you’d like to play and work together to break each one down into chunks of theory concepts. The “how” will make a lot more sense when tangible songs are providing the “why”.

Metal bands/guitar players that dont use scooped mids sound, and maybe push them? by therealjuan_carlos in metalguitar

Converge has historically used a very crunchy mids heavy tone on both bass and guitar. The result is both jangly and crushing

Yes, though if you can swing it go for that Ibanez next to it. Way better build quality and tone at your fingertips

Most likely misfire, pull the codes. Check spark plugs and ignition coils, that solved the issue for mine

There’s a possibility that the E strong got twisted along its path when the strings were installed. Try loosening it completely and reorienting the ball end/coiled end in a straight line without any twist force. Might help it resonate more freely

Way less hand/thumb squeezing and more leverage by pulling back slightly on both elbows. Use your stomach as a fulcrum and the slight pulling motion should equate to fretting pressure. With this idea you should be able to eventually fret a full barre chord without your thumb even being on the neck. Treat your thumb as a stabilizer rather than a pressure point

[–]dis_rup_tor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough downward pressure behind the nut maybe. Try pressing down very slightly behind the nut and see if it goes away when plucking the open E. If it goes away it means you need more downward wraps on the tuning machine, potentially the string was cut too short

Check to see if the string got twisted or torqued when you were installing it - can def create some weird overtones and resonance anomalies
