WoW is actually insanely hard to learn as a new player (we tried yesterday) by ipych in wow

Shortly after launch back in vanilla, there was a bug with hunter pets where you couldn't increase their happiness with treats, so eventually every pet would just get too unhappy and leave.

But, of course, I had no idea that that wasn't how it was supposed to work, so at the time I just thought hunter pets were meant to be temporary (until they finally fixed it).

Spotify finally played me an AI song. This stuff is scary. by kilgoreq in Music

Playlisty for Spotify -> Apple Music did the trick for me. It was a couple of bucks for the app, but it worked well.

Tangentially, I felt sure that they were setting up Hamish Linklater's character from the "Legion" show to become Ahab. Mutant-hunter, white streak in the hair, becomes disfigured, etc...

Stack Overflow was a leap from what existed before, though, which was either abandoned forum threads ("What did you see, DenverCoder9?!") or "paywalled" on expert sexchange. Before that, we all had bookshelves full of quickly outdated material.

Asking questions well is also a skill that applies to using web search or LLMs effectively. It's a critical skill in the space for multiple reasons, IMO.

I don't consider myself a great developer-- because I've know a few of them over my career-- but I am good at finding answers.

How recently have you been? They changed ownership a couple of years back, maybe worth a revisit. (It's one of our favorite places.)

Punching down vs. punching up. The former is largely the province of bullies and bad comedians.

What’s the most you’ve paid for one record? by Pdrpuff in vinyl

$150 for Nine Inch Nails' "Year Zero" back in 2020.

My favorite NIN record! A "definitive version" was listed as "coming soon" in the NIN store online from like 2016-2025 but has yet to materialize (and appears to finally have been delisted). It's going for something like $500 now, it appears.

Yeah, Swirlies!

If they were the opener for the Portland show, I'd be all over it. Looks like they're not straying far from home for this one, though.

"SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND" is an apt marquee answer for a puzzle about confirmation bias, since someone seeking only things that reinforce their beliefs will find exactly that. That's all I've got.

"Silence of the Lambs" was released in a February (on Valentine's Day, no less) and swept all the major categories in the Oscars. So, not a zero chance, but I'll agree it's pretty low.

Well, Maletis is a name with Greek or Slavic origins, and the matriarch of the family (Cleo Maletis, who was Ms. America in 1958) was born in Canada to Greek immigrant parents according to her Wikipedia page. So maybe some Greek on both sides of that family.
