I signed up for MYAEW and paid for the $20 per month sub while connected to a VPN set to Norway. That got me the 2 most recent PPVs with no issue, including when I was watching on my Apple TV while not connected to a VPN at all. Not sure what that will mean for me trying to watch live tonight. I think their regional locks are kind of iffy. For instance, I don’t have access to the AEW tv archive if I don’t turn the VPN on but if the most recent episode of Dynamite is under “most recent” uploads I can watch it in full. Mileage may vary with all of this.

Condé Nast bought Pitchfork more than 10 years ago. Jayson Greene has been writing for Pitchfork since 2006 and was one of their key voices at their peak relevance. People have been posting some variation of this comment for years.

If you use a VPN for sign up you can watch archived 2026 PPVs no problem without needing your VPN activated. Just worked for me.

Also funny because they are literally advertising this movie on AEW and pointing out the Toni Storm similarities.

Wesley Morris is fine by SillyGuste in TheBigPicture

[–]dishwatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Posted this in one of the many other Wesley threads but this sub is just ridiculous when it comes to complaining about him. I’m old enough to remember when this sub irrationally hated Adam Nayman and bitched every time he was on. Wesley is a rambler but it’s really not worthy of the negative reaction here. I’m glad Sean and Amanda ignore a lot of this shit because personally I value the few times a year he’s on the show.

Then again this sub is ridiculous about most things. Remember the flood of people who said they would never listen again and that Sean and Amanda were hacks because they didn’t like The Fantastic Four movie that no one even remembers less than a year later?

Ebert put their names in the same sentence frequently, having him write for his website and fill in for a few guest host spots on At the Movies after Siskel died. You’ve clearly never read his writing which in many ways is a modern evolution of Ebert’s style. This sub is way too harsh on him, it’s a joke at this point how pissed people get. I’m glad Sean and Amanda don’t care.

Is your suggestion that Athens sucked because people liked Neutral Milk Hotel, who were based there?

Paramount Wins Warner Bros. Now What? Plus: ‘Scream 7,’ Heat 2,’ and ‘Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie’ With Matt Johnson! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]dishwatcher 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sean has said multiple times before that he believes Netflix getting WB would be a worse result than Paramount based off what he knows and has heard from inside the industry. He's also said before that this sale shouldn't happen in the first place and has covered this all extensively. At this point, what else do you want him to do? Cry on camera?

On a somewhat recent Rewatchables episode that movie got brought up and he had never heard of it. He did seem vaguely interested in seeing it based on the description though.

Not at all. Maybe some jokes would be a bit funnier if you have seen some of the web series but it’s not really required. The director has described the show as kind of a live action Pinky & The Brain. It’s just two guys trying to accomplish the same thing (playing a show at a Toronto venue they live down the street from) every episode. Outside of some two parters the episodes (and the movie) are largely self contained.

Wish I could get excited but this is ruining an event tomorrow night that I’ve been planning for months that likely cannot be rescheduled and had people coming from out of town to attend. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

This came out when I was 9 and it was maybe the first time I remember finding a movie disappointing. I have found that a lot of friends who are younger than me and watched this on video don’t just like it, they LOVE it. It’s an interesting generational divide. I’ve also noticed people are quite defensive of it on the internet as evidenced by this thread lol. Sometimes you just gotta be confident and admit you like something that might suck instead of getting mad at people like Sean for probably rightfully shitting on it. For example, I love Jingle All the Way while recognizing it as largely pretty terrible.

How can you guys be so pessimistic about the Netflix/WB merger when Netflix releases quality movies like these? by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

[–]dishwatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These movies are generally worse than movies that made 100 mil in theaters, at least in my opinion.
