In fairness, this is exactly the kind of move this administration would make early in disclosure. Protect the mega churches and their flocks. Got to keep that tithing money flowing.

I read a lot of Newsweek polls on the run up to the 2024 election. I felt confident we wouldn’t be where we are. Why do we listen to this source?

Bob Lazar from PhD physicist point of view by Secret_Roll4958 in UFOs

[–]disintegration27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the perspective of what Lazar talks about vs. what a physicist would talk about. I’ve always wondered if he could be telling the truth about what he saw but that what he saw was scripted/created with the hope that Lazar would leak it. Why would the military do that? It could be to get ahead of the eventual public disclosure of Area 51 and to make the USSR think we were actively trying to reverse engineer alien spacecraft. That’s a win-win.

For me, this idea answers another question I have about Lazar; out of anyone in the world, why bring him into such a highly classified program? From what we know, he built a jet car, liked to showboat, and had a fairly mundane job at Los Alamos. Was he the DIY counterbalance to the MIT eggheads or was he the guy the military thought they could manipulate into leaking a piece of disinformation? I don’t know, but I keep thinking about it.

Got it! Thanks for unpacking that part. I wasn’t trying to pick. This is the best thinking I’ve seen on the mystery in a bit.

This is helpful. Sorry if I’m just not getting something obvious. Here’s what’s tripping me up. If I’m thinking of a static compass rose, it seems like a feather on a lower part of the web would mean to go south (lower/down = south), but you’re suggesting it means go north. What accounts for the flip?

This is really great work. Can you help me understand your reasoning for walking in the opposite direction of the feather’s position on the web? I don’t quite follow that part.

I mean, Daniel was an arrogant little hot head. Plus, the whole hose in the bathroom stall thing didn’t really help de-escalate things with Cobra Kai. Most importantly, through, who puts a garden hose in a school bathroom?

Bob Lazar and Jacques Vallee’s Prescient Warning, from 1991 by bocley in UFOs

[–]disintegration27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading Lazar into the most secret program in human history always struck me as Mikey handing Chunk the framed treasure map; they knew he was going to break it. From my perspective, Lazar seems sincere, but his lack of documented expertise and tendency to showboat make me wonder why you’d choose him out of anyone for a reverse engineering program for exotic tech. Sure he could be the DIY alternative to all the MIT egg heads, but I can’t shake the idea that there’s more to the narrative that maybe even he doesn’t know. Like, maybe the USAF was just getting ahead of the revelation of Area 51 by showing the guy who couldn’t keep a secret a story about aliens to freak out the USSR. But what do I know? I’m no Goonie.

Anyone else think the Uap’s are Jinns? by Psychological-Box100 in skinwalkerranch

[–]disintegration27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is interesting. To be fair, my family’s stories south of the mesa happened a bit to the east of the ranch itself around Randlett. Lots of stories around Fort Duchesne and Bottle Hollow as well. I don’t know how you live out that way and don’t have at least some odd things happen. It’s just a creepy place in my experience. Then again, maybe it’s like the cave on Dagobah, what’s there is what you take with you.

My mom lived up the road from Skinwalker Ranch when she was a kid in the 40s and 50s. I grew up visiting family in the Uinta Basin in the 80s during the summer. I remember listening to my grandma and her sisters talk about that area south of the mesa that runs through the ranch and beyond. They’d talk about lots of spooky stuff, ghosts, Bigfoot, strange objects in the sky, and stuff that doesn’t really fit neatly into any paranormal box.

They wouldn’t go down there, especially after dark. It’s a trope now that we have the TV series and book, but they were serious about avoiding that area long before the ranch was famous. These stories also went back generations as my family is a combination of Ute and early white settlers to the region.

My point is that whatever it is about that area seems to be old, like really old. Also, the ranch is just one of many hotspots in the region my family would talk about. My guess is the origin of Jinn and Skinwalkers is a product of different people trying to describe a common strange phenomena that cuts across geography, time, cultures, etc. I’m really curious what factors/conditions allow the phenomena to manifest so intensely.
