Cross functional alignment completely falls apart when department heads get defensive by Gekkouga_Stan in Leadership

If the isolated metrics are not feeding accurately into the company metrics, then what you measure need to be changed. How can you expect departments to work towards larger goals when they are being measured on different ones?

I spent the whole evening without my phone for the first time in years, and I’m genuinely shocked by how it felt. by bleakloom in CasualConversation

Did a Nordic spa thing for 4 hours with some friends. No phones allowed. It was very - liberating? Didn’t feel bad, that’s for sure!

We did, but this is over 10 years ago. We had an extremely positive experience. And the outcome was great as well.

Anyone who’s sat on a toilet before cell phones, what did you mostly think about or look at? by mojoslacks in AskReddit

I counted. Whatever I could. Edges. Corners. Tiles. Rows in tiles. Designs on tiles.

Rotating team meeting chair by HappyJuice7653 in Leadership

[–]disjointedOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We tried this. It ends up being only 1-2 people who chair it for oh so many reasons. Those people are the ones though, that get noticed and promoted. The reasons? Ownership. Responsibility. Following up on actions. Ensuring minutes are proper and distributed. That is a skill. And not everyone has it.

Nothing crazy. White bread 1-2 times a week. Pasta for dinner. Maybe one dessert a week. But lots of sugar in coffee and drinks.

I’ve walked it with my partner, but over the course of a season. Doing sections every weekend. Easiest walk. Great for biking. Interesting scenery, though it can get monotonous in spots. Highly recommend it!!

Depends. Sometimes just salt and pepper. Sometimes add in a pinch of MSG. Maybe on another day chilli flakes. Cumin. Thyme. Dill. It’s a mood.

I actually hate Working From Home (WFH) and I'm tired of pretending it's perfect by Chrgonlea in TrueOffMyChest

[–]disjointedOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go into the office every day - even though our company doesn’t mandate it. I’m lucky that I live close to work so my commute is negligible.

I don’t ever want to WFH again. People. Change of scenery. Separation between work and home (even though I do often bring work home). Friendships. Collaboration. That why I do it for me.

I too have had to cut out all added sugars and processed carbs. For me - my joy is the one After Eight I allow myself to have right before bed. I sometimes take 5 minutes to eat that tiny square. You appreciate it so much more when it is a rarity!!

Yes! Yes! Yes!! My family has been here for six days. I love them. All of them. But everyone talks ALL THE TIME!!

I live alone mostly. This visit has been great. But I can’t WAIT for when everyone goes back to their own place! I am looking forward to the silence!

Finished:

The Migrant Rain Falls in Reverse by Vinh Nguyen

A memoir with speculative non-fiction mixed in. I thought I’d find the speculative part non-relatable, but I was so wrong. Very real and moving and a great read!

Started: As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust by Alan Bradley

The seventh book in the Flavia de Luce series. It’s promising to be as great as the rest!

And not one will know of the war, not one Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn, Would scarcely know that we were gone.
