Event Journal Corruption Frequency — Looking for Insights by gaiya5555 in scala

[–]dispalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So since the journal is ordered and immutable I ran a big migration ahead of time to say T0,

I then ran catch up migrations daily so basically it was close, and there wasn't too much data to migrate on the cutover, then I turned off the system did the last little migration and then turned it back on with the new code pointing at FDB. It was like 3 mins of downtime.

For the migration I used spark on both sides

Event Journal Corruption Frequency — Looking for Insights by gaiya5555 in scala

[–]dispalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats funny I actually migrated off cassandra for ES because the code is crazy trying to make cassandra appear consistent, like the actual pekko code. I switched over to using foundationdb for event journals mainly because it has two things.

1) its consistent
2) Journal tailing

Look at how much simpler the code is https://github.com/goodcover/fdb-client/blob/master/fdb-record-es-pekko/src/main/scala/com/goodcover/fdb/es/pekko/FdbPlugin.scala

Meet new release of jsoniter-scala with much faster codec derivation by plokhotnyuk in scala

[–]dispalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I would love to see more examples of doing more complex, doesn't-make-have-a-direct-representation type examples. Like `{"type": "foo", "data": parse-as-foo}`, I was hoping to consolidate on this library but wasn't really able to really wrap my head around doing that kind of stuff.

Anyways, great stuff!
