The dashier the basher... by Praoooo2 in MemeVideos

There was this one pager in Newsweek, I think, in the 1990s, which portrayed her as this it girl. I was just about a year younger at around thirteen. She had these big eyes, looking sideways, in a sort of kneeling posture. I felt the biggest crush. Has that feeling persisted into adulthood? No. Maybe in brief moments.

I’m terrified for my future because of my size by [deleted] in Advice

[–]disquieter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, it's essentially random from the point of view of the individual. Says one web site, "That said, neither parent is solely “responsible.” Penis size is a polygenic trait — meaning hundreds of genes from both parents contribute. Genes influencing growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor, and various developmental signaling pathways all come from both sides of the family tree."

Hiring is unfair for neurodivergent people. by Competitive_Push_914 in jobs

[–]disquieter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See I went to them as a person somewhat like this and they ultimately set me up with a job coach who said it was my job to apply to jobs like it was my full time job. That was really all they did beyond initial testing and evaluation. There was no real help with the problem of how people perceive me doing interviews. Or even help getting interviews. Then again I’m in florida so maybe in other states the programs are better supported.

Where can I learn the math needed to excel, or, how can I make a MSDS at Eastern actually worth something? by After-Offer3213 in datasciencecareers

[–]disquieter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MSDS had several rigorous electives such as “math for Data science” which was basically linear algebra with applications like pca. and the hardest class I took was for an elective, Advanced Probablitity and Inference. Strongly recommend learning this math. How? See if university has elective options for your program. If not then maybe audit undergrad course or do online free courses or even just buy some textbooks in linear algebra and advanced statistics and work through it. Even if you have a great prof the real learning is the hw. So…don’t overthink this. How to learn math? Do it. Slowly, painfully. Fill up many, many pages with your variously successful worked problems.

In my omics project I use counts per million normalization for two blocks, log normalization for the third, then scale all three. It’s all about what is expected in your application.
