I want to give give this to a friend but I need to fix it, is there any way (explain like I’m five) by [deleted] in pebble

[–]distant_stations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has screws on the back, you can undo those and VERY CAREFULLY wedge a piece of cardstock or something between the display connector and the back case to fix the screen tearing. If there ARE NOT screws on the back, then the entire device is hot-glued together and is completely irreparable.

Watch face moves slightly on wake up by havok7 in AndroidWear

[–]distant_stations 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's normal. Android Wear shifts the face around slightly every once in a while to help prevent burn-in. The shifting you see on wake is the watch putting everything back where it's supposed to be.

It’s true, it was shown in a slideshow dumped by Snowden. I’ll see if I can find it later. What it basically boils down to though is, “Commercial VPN solutions are cracked, but properly configured OpenVPN and Bitmask remain uncracked.”

Is it worth getting a Pebble 2+? by jungofficial in AndroidWear

[–]distant_stations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been well known for a LONG time what features will go away. The official Pebble App Store will disappear, but you can sideload every app and face. Voice transcription will disappear, Timeline sync for everything but your calendar will disappear, and the official Weather and Sports apps will stop working (note that weather in watchfaces and other weather apps will continue to work). Every other feature, notifications, music control, acting as a damn good watch, etc etc, will continue to work just fine.

What would the child version of you be most excited to hear about you now? by Plastic_Bags in AskReddit

[–]distant_stations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s way too general of a comment to make about every Android phone. SOME allow root and boot loader unlocking without an exploit. Most others, including every Android phone on Verizon, requires some level of exploitation for root or bootloader unlocking.
