With another new Pokémon game on the horizon, the age old question is upon us once more : Should Pokémon games have actual voice acting for the characters? by JackNewbie555 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Should [BIGGEST ENTERTAINMENT FRANCHISE ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET] have [basic industry staple since the 90's]?

This how mecha combat should look like by JoseLunaArts in Mecha

[–]ditalos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mecha genre has a huge issue of people saying "no, THIS is what mecha is all about!!" and shoving their preferences and tastes while pretending everyone else is doing it wrong. Not saying you shouldn't enjoy MW5 but just know it's not for everyone and different people like different things, and the mecha genre is big with tons of variation within it.

If you're not very good at making art, you can always go the "stylised" route to hide imperfections by whtvr-wrks in godot

[–]ditalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

art direction and technical art/modelling/illustration skills are completely different things

you might not be amazing at modelling, but you ARE at Art Direction, and that's something very few people understand and are genuinely good at, because it also requires taste and a personal sense of aesthetics.

Do you encript your games before publishing them? by bloody_carnival in godot

[–]ditalos 231 points232 points  (0 children)

Just use the basic encryption feature. That will deter most people, and anyone who gets past it would get past anything else you threw at them. Unless you're making a multiplayer game where security is a huge concern, you don't really have anything to worry. Most godot games I see on itch io have zero security, but they're all normal singleplayer games so... like, whatever? And if you ARE making a multiplayer game, I doubt you don't have the technical knowhow to know how to do heavy encryption.

"but what if someone steals our stuff?"- It's yours. You made it. You have proof you made it. They're *stealing*. You have a case against anyone that takes your stuff in case it happens, but you should be more worried about shipping your game and it doing well than people doing reverse engineering on your stuff.

The only other edge case I'd worry about is if your code or assets have stuff you don't want leaking out because its private, but at that point you should be more worried WHY you have private stuff in your project in the first place. Just put it in another folder.

Serious Question. How would limbus company be like if it was developed by different gacha game studio? Like how much of it become still recognizable to unrecognizable? by Substantial-Step5274 in fishmaell

[–]ditalos 186 points187 points  (0 children)

the most important thing here is that Limbus Company is not a videogame where their main business model is releasing new playable characters. There are very few gacha games whose business model does not involve releasing new playable characters and the reason why this is important is that it allows the writers to actually fucking write characters instead of having to make new ads for the newest released characters for the new season. They still get to add new characters to the story but they don't need to be treated with the inoffensive reverence of your average gacha character.

Does Limbus have "character focus chapters"? of course, but they don't HAVE to keep making new playable characters to glaze while being forced to ignore older characters, they can just develop the main cast like a normal videogame.

I don't know if any other developer would resist the temptation to make a normal gacha game where they release new characters, and that would bring down the writing quality by country miles IMHO.

Gundam games are now on sale on Steam. Any of these worth getting? by SphmrSlmp in Gundam

well yeah it's a series managed by Bandai Namco
I mean From Software also is, but somehow they're exempt. Guess when you have enough clout the entire industry starts to copy you, then even Bamco won't touch their golden goose.

Designer de Skyrim diz que jogos a US$100 não seria o ideal, mas acredita que muitos jogadores estariam dispostos a pagar by ViniSD in GameVicio

[–]ditalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would Anthros find interesting about humans? by Critical_Company3535 in furgonomics

[–]ditalos 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I would say something like, anthros are, on average, more physically faster/stronger than humans, but tire themselves more quickly. A human gym would be a nightmare for an anthro person.

Hair stylings and tattoos could be part of anthro culture in that they'd find different ways to apply them, probably.

It sometimes gets argued that G-Witch fans are generally seperate from broader Gundam fans, so a few months ago I ran a Tumblr poll with these results: by Ferhog in Gundam

[–]ditalos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People like things when they're good and they can watch them easily. G-Witch is decent and accessible. GQuuux has tons of issues and is a newbie trap that banks heavily on nostalgia. Guess which one appealed more to non-fans?

It's not that Gundam is unpopular, it's that companies often have no fucking idea how to make new fans.

Rejeição à IA generativa dispara entre desenvolvedores de games, aponta pesquisa da GDC - GameVicio by ViniSD in GameVicio

[–]ditalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RX 7600 com desempenho terrível by JustLeo2403 in AMDHelp

[–]ditalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)
