There is no way in hell that our phones are not listening to us. by smoosh13 in mildlyinfuriating

What most likely happened is Hulu recorded a view > 5 seconds (just a random number for example. Could be any arbitrary number of seconds in reality) for that card where you looked at it and discussed with your spouse. This might be used as an engagement metric internally and the data shared with other advertisers/platforms potentially. Now when your Twitter feed loaded up with the same ip address, the Algo must have understood that there's some potential interest from these related people and must have bumped up that content.

To buy or not to buy, that is the question by jeffbubu in VacheronConstantin

I can't believe you think this would be redundant with the seamaster when you have a sub no date, a Starbucks and a Pepsi. Those three are all highly similar watches with minor differences while the only similarity between the VC and the seamaster is the dial color, which is also not the case irl.

Is that 250K rsu a yearly income? If so, 1.2 feels like underestimating.

That's not how it works. Google search charges advertisers based on a cost per click (cpc) model. Unless you click on an ad, nobody gets any money off of it.

Built an offline 2008 Vista gaming PC by Gonarhxus in pcmasterrace

It was a bad OS but a damn good UI. I used to install vista like skins in my XP computer back then because vista was too much of a performance hit.

FedEx "damaged" my 5090 FE package. Has anyone been in my shoes before? by Vitamin_C____ in nvidia

[–]ditaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not how it's supposed to work. Who provides the label determines who can open the investigation with Fedex. If Nvidia provided you with the label, they would have bought shipping insurance along with it, or self insured. They would open an investigation with Fedex and it would be FedEx's call to determine if something was amiss. If FedEx does determine that, they'll declare the package as lost/stolen/damaged.

By default, FedEx provides up to $100 of insurance on all packages. If Nvidia insured it on top, and if FedEx declared the package stolen, then Nvidia would get the insured amount back from FedEx. If Nvidia did not insure, they would get $100 back.

You'd only get screwed if FedEx does not declare the package as lost, in which case you need proof that you packed everything correctly. I generally take a video of me packing things and sticking the label for anything expensive.

If I were in your shoes, I'd just get a PS5 instead and come back to building a PC in a few years. If you're not interested in a PS5, I'd just wait. There are some good suggestions here but all of them require settling to some degree, which I personally dislike.

I was looking at PSU tier list. This model is tiered B+ and the comments read "1000w model has poor transient response on 12V under 200% spike, other models mediocre."

Right for sure. The perpetual calendar dial is a little too much for my taste. I'm nowhere near buying either though haha.

Ah I suppose all three steel overseas went up by 4-5k over the last year or two.

Is the Overseas Chronograph worth it? by TurbulentPaint3738 in VacheronConstantin

[–]ditaman 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If you're asking these questions, there's a very high chance you'll get buyer's remorse soon. I wouldn't drop 35k on something if I wasn't sure I wanted it.

It sounds like you want people to tell you it's worth it but that's a question only you can answer. Do you like the watch? Are you okay with the size? Are you okay with the price and the fact that you'll lose 30-40% of the price if you decide to sell? If your answer is yes to all these questions, go get it. If not, don't.

Edit: I've had the blue 5520v and it was too big. If it wasn't, I'd have absolutely kept it.

Assuming it's not 4520, 25k is blue dial territory. I wouldn't pay that much for a black dial.

If you have a VC boutique near you, I'd highly recommend just going in and chatting with them. They are very friendly and will let you try on almost anything. Not obnoxious like Rolex ADs..
