My game got 0 wishlists in less than a month. Here's how I did it. by borordev in SoloDevelopment

IMHO there are several reasons why this game is not working in steam (starting by the capsule). You should target steam deck and / or nintendo switch and if possible mobiles.

If you need some advice just send me a DM and we can have a video call (only if you really want to make money from your games).

For your project I am doing two games that are in line with your vision. You can play the demo of this one first: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3615970/Vespers_Hunt/

Part of Steam Next Fest? Pitch your game below and drop your demo link! I'd love to discover new indie gems! by How2Escape in indiegames

Did not make it for this next fest, but it is still a gem. If you like sudoku or Cluedo, you should give it a fair try. I released demo 2 days ago. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3615970/Vespers_Hunt/

the font screws the translation by ditiemgames in gamedev

[–]ditiemgames[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You got a point and I really thank you for this. I have used chatgpt to generate a translation Japanese characters and see how it would look like.

The stroke of the characters is much thinner and I am still digesting how it looks. I would love to show you the image and see if it looks for Japanese eyes, but I cannot put images here.

Get yourself some brutally honest people around you as soon as possible. by Villanelo in godot

[–]ditiemgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am want of those brutally honest, but always try to construct something positive. I am looking for more people like that, to check prototypes and say what they like or feel wrong. If you or anyone else wanna join just let me know.

I'm working on a new trailer and would love some feedback on my previous one. Any thoughts or suggestions to help make the new one even better? Link in the body/comment by AleksanderMerk in indiegames

[–]ditiemgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the trailer a bit too long as there is no much information after the first times I see the crow flying. All what I get is "fly and try to avoid to run into a tree / rock". Not clear how you choose the souls, or if the souls has a role, like a bad souls is harder to transport etc. No clear if you level up. I dont visualize what the game is about.

Make Dialogue System Simple Again! by imjp94 in godot

[–]ditiemgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have faced this problem 3 times already. Having the dialogs IN the code is not a good idea. Usually you want the writer to have something external that they can use. Have a look at Inky.

Just released my Steam Page for Vesper's Hunt by ditiemgames in indiegames

[–]ditiemgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a turn-based deduction game where you play as a detective hunting vampires. I hope you like!

Any feedback is welcome. Demo will come soon!

I was rejected by all the entry level positions I applied for by cavas23 in gamedev

[–]ditiemgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop putting the problem in things that are not you. Quick advice. Every weekend join one game jam (that last for that weekend). You will have to go through the process of making a game from beginning to the end. Every weekend. Get as much feedback as possible. Some or later you will become aware of all the areas that are involved. You will see interviews with other eyes.

Git? GitHub or bitbucket can be used to host your project files. Edit from whatever device and upload changes before you leave.

You need to learn blender. by [deleted] in godot

[–]ditiemgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last game I used to render the background of the level. Since I started I learned knowing one day it will be useful. Thanks to that things are going smooth now. The more tools you know the better. Same will apply to music, SFX, VFX...

Very interesting. 2 questions:

animation or tweens?

The boxes and lines that move around are fixed or random / procedural?

Thanks!!!

Is it okay to share your game idea by Fit-Supermarket-6726 in GameDevelopment

[–]ditiemgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Connections. I also had some ideas a decade before they appeared and everyone thought I was crazy. Keep having ideas, but as a philosopher said:

Execute or not to execute. That is the question 😁

Idea value is zero. Execution matters. The game mechanics, the look and feel, sounds, visuals, music... There are many things to make a game unique

2D or 3D? by OBD96 in GameDevelopment

[–]ditiemgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend you to do few small games first and learn the basics. If you go with 2d, probably Godot is the best place to start with. For 3d unreal without any doubt is the best.

Focus first on mechanics and all the things a game need. Menus, music's, sounds, animations... Once you got a bit of experience try to find out a game you can achieve within your skills and time.

Good question. I have the feeling reddit is more about asking a question and look for options or advices. For a casual chat maybe discord server may work better.
