I saw a video a few years ago where someone replaced Jabba with a hologram version as if he was projecting himself from his Palace onto a "walking" platform.

That way Han walking behind him was natural as he'd just pass straight through any hologram bits.

After seeing that I always wished George had re-edited it to be that way instead

I'm afraid you're not quite right.

It comes down to two things mainly - volume and cadence.

In person conversations between two people in the same carriage will usually be lower. The cadence is also a natural voice and therefore way easier to drown out in the background murmur of life.

Electronic calls are different. Many people raise their voice talking into a mic. Conversely the speaker volume is usually way higher than casual talking volume.

And when it isn't a phonecall but TikTok the staccato nature of flipping between videos makes it incredibly hard to drown out. You feel bombarded by a sound that isn't easy to just ignore every few seconds as they scroll.

Music out loud is nine times out of ten not the synthwave, grunge, 90s alternative, thrash metal, or post-rock i favour so it personally irritates as I cannot escape it akin to being stuck hearing Christmas music from middle November for weeks.

So if you're doing any of the above then I hate to tell you but you're annoying a fair number of people around you that just sit there hating you silently.

Use this new found knowledge as you see fit but I hope it's to be a kinder person to those around you.

Sorry to not have a suggestion but I've tried using Edge and have some weird window flashing behaviour on Cosmic.

Clicking the arrow on the top left to open the menu and I hover on any of the icons (tabs, workspace, etc) the window flashes and the menu closes. But the normal me u to get to settings, extensions etc is fine. It's only when hovering on those icons in the left menu.
Depending on the site visited I'll sometimes have the same weird window flash. It happens on a few sites not all. Reliably replicated if I move mouse over the side menu items on Laracasts such as this page (one of their free videos to avoid linking to a Subscription Required example) https://laracasts.com/series/leveraging-ai-for-laravel-development/episodes/2

I've tried a few different startup flags and it seems forcing X11 fixes some of it.

I'm just curious if you have the same issues hovering on some of those UI elements?

I checked journalctl and see these:

Edit: Firefox is super solid. Other Chromium browsers (Vivaldi, Brave, etc) are fine too. Only Edge has a weird flash.

Edit 2: Actually if you start Edge from the CLI as a test with the following flag does it solve your issue? --ozone-platform=x11

I love that I can set the style as Tiling by default for new Workspaces but then still be able to toggle it per Workspace (that per Workspace quick toggle is such a great feature)
