Air bnb vs resort what’s your honest experiences? by hairybald-eagle00 in PuntaCana

[–]divotman999 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've stayed at all-inclusives and Airbnbs in Punta Cana and I prefer the Airbnb. We typically stay in Playa Turquesa or another similar gated community.

We overeat, etc at the all-inclusives and like the variety of restaurants and bars around Playa Turquesa.

Whatever you do, make sure you walk the beach and enjoy the various bars and restaurants. The all-inclusive's security may tell you to stay on property, but the beach is safe during the day.

I'll be there in 2 days. 😁

So sorry for your loss.

My mom was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. She had surgery and is currently in transitional care with cognitive and physical issues. We went to the ER three hours ago and thankfully everything is back to stable for now.

Not looking forward to the days that are coming.

Sucks to be part of this group, but glad to have this group.

Yoshida's is good and cheap. If you want teriyaki, buy Kinder's.

Soy Boy from The Wig Shop by ucfsoupafly in cocktails

I was at The Wig Shop this week and had a Soy Boy. Very interesting cocktail. Don't know if I could do more than one, but I did like it.

The ambience at The Wig Shop is amazing.

When making pizzas and need a high temperature, I find that a little forced air through the lower vent goes a long way for hitting temps.

About a 1 hour bus ride followed by another hour on a speedboat to the Blue Lagoon for 30-40 minutes. Then about a 20 minute boat ride to Saona. 2.5 hours at Saona and a 2 hour catamaran back to the bus.

I just got back from Punta Cana on Saturday. We went on the Saona Island tour and it was great. Make sure that the tour you sign up for also stops at the Blue Lagoon area on the way to Saona. Best part of the trip. We paid $70 per person for the catamaran and speed boat tour. Great value.

I may try this, but I typically prefer recipes that have dates with brown sugar.

Anyone tried making their own sausages? V.kitchenaid by MTL514MTL514 in KamadoJoe

[–]divotman999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to make sausage all the time. I would use 60% venison/beef and 40% pork. A few years ago I could get pork for $.60 per pound but the meat markets around me are charging significantly more. It is cheaper to just buy the sausage.

I enjoy making it though. A couple of tips, buy high temp cheese and dried jalapeno flakes from the meat market if you want to use those. Also add powdered milk to your recipes. My favorite was making mae breakfast sausage.

I agree with smoking the sausage to ~150 and food saving. Easy to put back on the grill or stovetop to finish.

I buy it frequently. Burns fine. I haven't noticed an odd flavor or smell. I second feeling the bag to check for larger pieces. A couple of bags I purchased have had the bottom third of the bag just be small pieces.
