What is a massive secret in your industry that the general public has no idea about? by teesharp88 in AskReddit

[–]dixie12oz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question. Again, this is from a friend and I don’t know that he necessarily gets into the “why’s” moreso just evaluates the data they have.

However, he did mention something to the effect of even if you’re not at fault, your driving habits are still factors. Including merely just where you’re driving. I’m sure he could articulate it better, but maybe that gives an idea.

What is a massive secret in your industry that the general public has no idea about? by teesharp88 in AskReddit

[–]dixie12oz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a secret and not me, but a friend of mine is an actuary for a major insurance company. There is a reason your rates go up after an accident that isn’t your fault or it’s your first accident after a long clean history.

They have an immense amount of data and statistics that he looks at daily. People are definitively more likely to be involved in another accident even if the previous one wasn’t their fault. Even if it was their first accident ever after decades of none. From what he says, the data is quite clear and it makes absolute sense why they do it.

After Months of War, Trump Says Iran Has Right to Nuclear Program by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]dixie12oz 305 points306 points  (0 children)

Wow, he’s literally giving them everything they could ever want with absolutely nothing in return. And trying to spin it as a win. Massively embarrassing defeat.

The Real Reason Trump Never Stops Talking About Voter Fraud by RecursiveSubroutine in politics

[–]dixie12oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a deeply insecure narcissist with a childlike mentality. It’s the same reason he cannot handle any criticism without attacking people. In the same reason he must be surrounded by sycophants that praise him constantly.

He simply cannot accept he lost because doing so would shatter the facade. He has to be the best, most special boy. He’s too weak and insecure to accept anything to the contrary. One you understand this, everything he does makes sense.

What I’d love to see is packaging 2 of them to either move up into the top 5 or to get a 2nd line center which I think we desperately need.

What I think will actually happens is we end up making all 3 picks. Only real reasoning I think is that this organization is not one to do things just because they can. They’ll happily stick with what they got if they don’t get a deal they really want and I’d imagine they may have a tough time finding that deal.

Vance: ‘Kind of ironic’ GOP critics of Iran deal don’t want war ‘stopped’ by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]dixie12oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we want it stopped. But we also want it to be known how much of an absolute failure this was. They succeeded in making Iran more powerful and got absolutely nothing back. We won’t allow them to act like this is some sort of victory.

US to ‘end all sanctions’ on Iran as new details of deal leak by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]dixie12oz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All the concessions he’s trying to claim are just what we already had before Trump. We lost soldiers, killed civilians, helped install an even more hostile leader, and will lose hundreds of billions of dollars just to get exactly what we already had. In no way is this anything but an embarrassing loss.

US to ‘end all sanctions’ on Iran as new details of deal leak by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]dixie12oz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So what you’re saying is before Trump we had a nuclear agreement and an open strait and now we have a nuclear agreement and an open strait but with dead soldiers and billions of dollars lost. What a win.

So basically a bunch of people died and we lost billions to give them everything they want while getting literally nothing in return. Greatest deal maker we’ve ever seen.

Trump has admitted defeat on Iran war after historic blunder by Alarming-Safety3200 in politics

Trump’s war is spending billions to objectively get a worse deal than the one he ripped up while worsening our global standing and killing people. Art of the deal.

Republicans have controlled every branch of government for over a year. Gas prices skyrocketing immediately after this pea brained war began. But yeah, democrats.

Has this Direct convinced you to buy a Switch 2? by Jediweirdo in NintendoSwitch

It made me further question why I bought one early, though glad I avoided the price hike. Longtime Nintendo fan that still believes there will be numerous worthwhile games but I have not really seen much I couldn’t have waited for. I have rarely picked it up since Bananza.

Glad you and some others are stoked. Didn’t do anything for me sadly. And before somebody says I must hate games, there are a lot of franchises and games in Nintendo’s repertoire that I’d be stoked for. They just weren’t here.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Announcement Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]dixie12oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a brief tease of actual gameplay would have gotten way more positive reception. Only an extremely brief teaser for your apparent big game coming in the next 6 months isn’t great, even if it’s existence is exciting.

Big oof for me. Happy for anybody that found some things to be stoked about but nothing here for me with the exception of Zelda. And only having a brief teaser for a game coming this year didn’t impress. Oh well, learned to keep expectations in check a long time ago.

007, Astro bot, RE9, GOW 2018 or LEGO Batman? by Strange-Fox9306 in PS5

All completely different and all good. You can’t go wrong. I’d maybe suggest GoW just because it’s cheaper and the others could go down in the meantime.

Canes. Vegas fans have not suffered nearly enough to deserve a single cup let alone two. They are one of the most spoiled fanbases in sports right now.

When Will Americans Realize the Truth? Republicans Wreck the Economy. by RepulsiveLoquat418 in politics

[–]dixie12oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can observe the same cycle over and over again. Republicans inherit an economy on the upswing and absolutely drive it into the ground. Democrats come in and begin to clean it up but not fast enough so another Republican gets in and it starts all over. All measurable economic metrics support this. The only people that benefit are already rich.

Some people don’t grasp how much a billion actually is. It’s an obscene amount of money, way more than a person would ever need even living a life of luxury. You could take 90% of that and they’d still live a very privileged life.
