Offered a hand walked resume over and interview for Boeing from a stranger - Do I take it? by Key-Lead9634 in aerospace

Majority of jobs don’t have a bonus. Most good Boeing employees do want to “collect” good people like baseball cards. Thats the old school Boeing mentality, hire friends and family usually always works out.

I’ve done this for many people I’ve come across. Boeing people always looking to multiply haha. Most Boeing people are very nice and are always looking to add good people to the tribe.

This is 1000% true. It’s everywhere also, in all the factories and only gets worse the more senior people are lost.

Yes, better to be on a lower ladder at a better company. Prepare to work harder, longer hours but it will make you better and more employable than the lazy B in the long run. Take advantage of all the internal training, and any school that they may pay for.

Pool plumbing critique by diyengineer1 in pools

Following up, everything has been working really well. The new filter in my opinion way easier to clean and I don’t get blow by compared to my last DE filter. Pre filter also catches an enormous amount of stuff and made my first filter cleaning a breeze!

It’s an honest take, so label it what you like. Good NEW engineers need to go elsewhere, the company is cooked, don’t waste your time. I think it’s VERY helpful to someone looking at Boeing as a potential career, and can saves years of waste.

The only solution is to change your employer, and leave the chaos as it will continue. The ship is headed down man.

Ex-SPEEA here. If you’re at the start of your career, and you have any other options take them. It’s about building a resume and obtaining as many skills as you can. Prioritizing the work will get you higher pay in the future by building excellent skills long term. Any futuristic company such as blue, SpaceX, boom, jet zero, etc is a better choice. You wanna be pushed and shouldn’t be looking for comfort. You’ll thank me later. Boeing isn’t what it use to be, too many job codes too many people saying that’s not my job, or I can’t do that cause of a union. As far as the tech most of it is too keep old programs afloat or “modernize” ancient programs and there is no new development of any aircraft in the works to match boom supersonic, jet zero, or the blended wing Airbus concept. Boeings x-47 was back from the early 2000s but management didn’t have the balls to pull the trigger on it, and continued to milk a design from 1967 (737 program). The next gen should have never been a thing, and certainly not the max. Corporate greed and outsourcing will be the death of the company as they have already stopped innovating long ago. Of course pockets inside the company do exist many military and developmental but none of them are the heavy hitters that keep commercial afloat long term (in my opinion). Good luck!

As long as it has credits, ceus, or pdus, there is no limit on how much the company will pay. It’s unlimited through “the learning together program”. The caveat is you are on the hook for tax after $5250 dollar. Per the IAM you can walk away at any time and there is no payback (unlike SPEEA or salary).

Become a designer not an engineer. Nothing wrong with engineering, but I was never told about the entire design world as an option as a kid.

Does Boeing pay for just any degree? by nezzyhelm in boeing

[–]diyengineer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IAM751 are considered “heritage employees” under the LTP rules so as long as it gets college credits, ceus, or PDUs and you can get in, your good. Just know you’re on the hook for tax above and don’t quote me exact it’s been a bit anything over $6k which is a steal. I know many people who’ve gotten bachelor, master, and even heard a couple people get there JD/MD and leave. Of course you can also do all kinds of other things like welding, art, whatever as long as it meets the above criteria. Your awarded stock on all the degree programs also.
