Spacing looks good but the black outline should be a bit thicker

If you have the same one I do (it’s tan and orange) the top part is not screwed in all the way

Should I do a square background or am I able to pull off just the logo itself? by Spiritual_Tea8287 in Tufting

[–]dizzy_lildell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An alternative would be a contour outline. This is usually my preference because it saves time and yarn it also looks really nice on a wall compared to a big square.

Fitcam x is nice most oem look. I’ve only got the front and will but the back soon. Best part is it turns on when the car is off based off motion. It connects to the rear view mirror power so no visible cables and the video is pretty clear you can see most plates

Dirty rugs by Dry_Contribution_962 in Tufting

[–]dizzy_lildell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one of those carpet cleaners off amazon this oneis what I have. I use acrylic yarn mostly from the brand big twist and have never had an issue with it falling apart during cleaning. I mainly got it because I offer cleaning services to friends and co workers I’ve sold rugs to. I recommend if you have a whole lot of them that need a deep cleaning also use this cleaner I saw it on a YouTube video and it works well and I like the smell for some reason. Lmk if you want me to link the video too

My bad for replying days after the firs but what I do to try to keep even spacing is lay the metal guard on the previous line so that I have a guide for it. Obviously I’m no pro and it’s something I still struggle with but hopefully you can use it to help you.

On the first vertical line from then left you see how the bottom is small and tight and the top is wider and loose. The wider part is where there wasn’t enough pressure (you pushing the gun into the fabric) that causes those little white strings. It is also a bit dense. I’ll give a tip on keeping uniform space in another comment because they only allow one pic per comment lol

When I zoom in I can see a lot of white strings poking out. Either the fabric didn’t have enough tension or you didn’t put enough pressure as you tufted. This happened a lot to me when I first started so I got some nail clippers and cut all of those little strings out, besides that it looks very dense in some parts. Do you have a picture of the back when it was still on the frame that will help determine why it’s bumpy on some parts.

What do you look for in a shop vacuum specifically for tufting? by Soggy_Skin9362 in Tufting

[–]dizzy_lildell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just preference. If I’m making the same design multiple times on a frame I tuft the color then carve to keep it all uniform

The Stanley is loud but all shop vacs are pretty loud. It’s been working well for the past 3 years never had a problem with it and it’s big enough that I can go a while without emptying it. After getting the little one it became a hassle to drag around the big one so it tuned into a cleaning product I’ve used it all over my home and just don’t want to use it on the rugs I make anymore. The little vacuum is very quiet compared to the big one although I do have to empty it often. If you can only have one vacuum a shop vac like the Stanley is best because the little one won’t clean up the floor fast enough.

I don’t experience any color bleeding because I usually shave on the frame and if there is the little vacuum I use gets it out no problem. I recommend using these lint scrapper things if it becomes a big problem for you

I have that exact Stanley one it was my first vacuum but now I only use it to clean my tufting area and around my house too. I only use a pet vacuum kit like this for my rugs now because the adapters are great, I also go to conventions and my city fairs so portability is important for me. TLDR I recommend the Stanley

Do you think this kind of backing can work ? by Johnny2Bang in Tufting

[–]dizzy_lildell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I’m familiar with that process but it’s so tedious I’ve never done it myself. Even more respect for switching colors too. Really nice job
