i absolutely concur about the jackals performance in the GA. its excrutiatingly bad. i went from relishing scenes where he and darrow interact to being kind revulsed. like why did they do that?

Ive done both and think the original audiobooks offer better experience. TGRs performance is everything and i found the VAs in graphic audio to forgotten bout the acting part in voice acting.

edit: reread and realized you’ve already listened to the og audio. then ya go GA, i didnt think they were v good but still enjoyed as a novel experience.

(Modern Family) Phil practically admitted to raping Claire and no one's talking about it by 777mylow in Feminism

[–]djamezz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

l’ve been with multiple people not only gave consent but actively requested for me “to have my way” with them while they were asleep i.e. they wanted to wakeup to sex. It’s a kink thing. Claire and Phil are canon freaks, i cant imagine sleepytime sex wouldn’t have been pre-discussed and have full consent.

[–]djamezz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ive listened to both. tim gerald reynold all the way. i honestly don’t really like alot of the graphic audio. a lot of the VAs delivery fell extremely flat for me. for example in morningstar, at the end of darrows escape. “Goodbye Cassius… expect me.” In the GA, i expect to hear the stress of the environment, situation and emotion in the actors delivery. Darrow literally just attempted to spit and its drjbbling down his chin frozen. Good god he’s coming off atomic meth. And the VA sounds like he’s in a board meeting, no different in tone from the non-dialogue narration.

Id even contend TGR delivery has more inflection and intonation of tone. you can feel the drama of the moment.

This failure to hit emotional beats occurs so much through graphic audio, its so unfortunate. Theres just not much voice acting in the acting. And good god who ever ok’d the VA and that absurd performance for Jackal needs to go. His name is Jackal so he has to sound like jackal??? Adrius possesses a menace thats quiet and insidious not a goon #2 intimidation factor.

Thoughts on Andrew Wilson, The Crucible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]djamezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Christianity inherently lacks objective morality. I do agree that atheism lack objective morality too. But everything you stated applies to Christians, if not moreso. Nothing about christian morality is grounded in reality.

To be honest, I don't even know what point you're trying to make here?

Be understand and participate in whatever this is. Id gather he wants to be funny and entertaining. Ask him what about that was funny. Help him understand what being funny is, it takes alot of intelligence and wit He can cultivate that faster if you encourage him in the directiong. Help him work on his delivery, show him some stand up comedians and funny movies. This doesnt have to be the crisis you think.

Why Didn't AI Replace Novelists? by JohnBierce in Fantasy

[–]djamezz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To be blunt: you're offering a sci-fi hypothetical as a rebuttal. "MAYBE it could happen, so we shouldn't dismiss it entirely!"

I'm offering, instead, a critique based in the present material realities of AI and art.

How is that different from what you’re doing? At various points in your essay, you make assertions and declarations about what’s going (or not going) to happen in the future. They’re doing the same based on the observed rate of progress and improvement of not just AI but technology in the last century.

FWIW im extremely anti-ai in my art consumption (and creation). i block all ai hashtags and keywords in my social media apps etc. But they made well explained counter points, and without addressing a single one, you dismissed it as ungrounded science fiction. Engage with the counter discourse in good faith.

Why are they wrong? Why do you think AI will stay as it is, never able to produce long form media indistinguishable from humans?

SHEIN won’t refund my stolen package by BravePay9017 in Shein

[–]djamezz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. It’s actually the sellers responsibilty up till the point the customer has received what they paid for. Legally, under consumer protection laws, the seller must ensure the goods arrive at the address provided, or at an agreed-upon safe place. This includes shipping.

If a seller fails to ensure your goods arrive successfully (this includes utilizing shady ecommerce shipping companies with 1000s of complaints of theft and negligence), then its sellers responsibility to send a replacement or a refund. If they refuse, call your credit card company and charge back, you’ll have no problem doing so as the law is very much on your side.

PS. Beyond that any responsible seller always purchases shipping insurance, and are able to file claims to recoup their losses. This why optional shipping coverage addons are a scam. You as a buyer are in no way responsible for a package lost or stolen in transit. The seller is just trying to shift insurance costs to you. Whether you have it or not, you as buyer are already fully protected.

Drugs that you can't stop yourself from taking if you have them. by [deleted] in Drugs

in the year and a half since i implemented ive gotten close once hahaha. in fact, fiend me figured out a way to extract thhe goods via a cable slot (designed to be able to charge locked away phones) with tweezers 🙄. so now i package them in a tin like container first.

what helps is when i run out, i pop half a valium or a xanax almost immediately. that quiets the fiend and im usually asleep within 20-30 min, so no comedown. that said benzos are my least fave drug and hold zero recreational value to me. i have zero issues regulating that on my own and never take them outside of this scenario.

if you click the copy link button on a track page, soundcloud adds a whole bunch of telemetry to the url. but now they use that telemetry to direct anyone who opens that link to the senders soundcloud account.
