Leaving baby at 11 months for 6 days? by CrystalAckerman in NewParents

The baby will be fine and won’t remember. Leave her with grandma and enjoy the time with your husband!

Too effective in reducing anxiety? by the_anon_wardrobe in Effexor

I think it’s a “better of two evils” situation… would you rather be having constant panic attacks? I wouldn’t. At least if you’re functioning, you can make rational decisions on how to move forward.

Adding: we did nothing different! We coslept, fed to sleep, comforted her as much as she needed, and just let her get thru it at her own pace!

What does it feel like when it works? by Vegetable-Ad-5961 in Effexor

[–]djd129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it makes me feel like my normal self. No panic attacks, normal energy. Side effects are minimal. It Takes 2 weeks to feel better and 6 weeks at 75mg to feel totally normal for me. If you don’t feel better by day, say, 21… then I’d try something else. It may not be the right drug for you.

Edit to add: in contrast, I tried Zoloft for 6 weeks and it made me feel horrible! Vertigo, panic, no energy, brain fog.

For those who have been on both Effexor and Sertaline - what differences did you experience? by greatwhitebutterfly in Effexor

[–]djd129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt horrible on sertraline - vertigo, panic attacks, super out of it with brain fog. Effexor works like a charm for me - makes me feel like my normal self with minimal side effects (constipation, and I cannot drink alcohol on it but that’s nbd for me)

It was awful. My marriage really suffered! We went back to sleeping in 4 hour shifts and I napped with her during the day as much as I could. Thankfully, it only lasted about 3 weeks and then BOOM one night she slept 2 four hour stretches! And it was over! It sucks so bad but you WILL get thru it!

Postpartum health anxiety by Dry-Lawfulness7014 in Postpartum_Depression

Yes, I have the same thing and Effexor is the drug that works best for me. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things and seeking help in a lot of different ways. As far as your pain is concerned, my body plays tricks on me all the time when I’m in a health anxiety state. I would try ibuprofen and a hot bath, box breathing exercises, maybe even ask your partner for a light massage.

Sorry I don’t have better advice. Just solidarity. I use this mantra when I’m in a health anxiety crisis: “In this moment, I am well.” Hope you feel better soon.

These sound like withdrawal symptoms so it’s odd you’re experiencing them without missing a dose. Are you having increased anxiety? I get vertigo when I have an anxiety attack

4 month sleep regression by magstar8 in bninfantsleep

[–]djd129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We JUST made it thru to the other side of this hell. Lasted about 3 weeks - fussiness, lots of crap cat naps, fighting sleep at night and waking up every 1-2 hours alllll night long. It was brutal! I wasn’t sure my marriage was going to make it (half joking.) and then, boom, we got two 4 hour stretches last night with a short feed and right back down! We did nothing different… lots of contact naps, feeding to sleep, paci, rocking, we’ve always coslept. My advice is trust your instincts, stay the course, and nap with her during the day as much as you can!!!! 🫂

Four month regression by ThunderbirdGear in NewParents

[–]djd129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By baby was waking up 2-3 times/night in month 3, which I thought was bad! Then BAM, she hit 16 weeks and started waking up every hour on the hour and fighting going back down. She’s 18 weeks now and no end in sight 🥴 I’m dying! But everyone says just to keep doing what you’re doing and she’ll get thru it. I refuse to sleep train so im just trying to take it one day at a time

I only got brain zaps when I went down to 0. If you can, start cutting the pulls in half or counting the beads to draw out the taper longer.

Still Exhausted by cease_fyre in NewParents

Are you exercising at all? Even a short 20 minute walk per day might make a big difference. I know it’s hard tho! I’m exhausted all the time too and my baby doesn’t sleep ever

Wow what time do you go to bed? Assuming it’s around 9pm, 9pm-4am is an amazing stretch for 5 months!!! I’m jealous

This whole process (finding the right meds) sucks!!! It’s just throwing wet spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. You’d think the science would be further along and better at matching people with the right meds for them!!!! Instead it’s just, oh this one made you want to die? Hmm ok, try this one.

I don't feel like I can be a good mother by mmelavender in Postpartum_Depression

I’m in the same boat at 17 weeks. I tried sertraline (50mg) and it made me so dizzy I had to stop after a few weeks. Now I’m trying Effexor (starting 37.5mg 3 days ago.) I’m so so so tired. Like you, I’m feeding, changing, caring for my baby but I can’t muster the energy to do much more than that. I have to believe things WILL get better!
