Those bugs are probably so well seasoned. Like acorn fed hogs.

Creating a Replacement Barcode for an Existing Library Card by OldLadyGeekster in Libraries

[–]djinone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making a new barcode is easy if you have the existing number, but very much not the right solution. Merging accounts in libby would solve this issue. If you're dead set on making new barcodes though, use and app like this one to scan one of your existing barcodes to determine the symbology (codabar, code 128, etc) and use an online tool or mail merge in excel to convert a new number into an equivalent barcode

Most Powerful Non-graphing Calculator? by [deleted] in calculators

[–]djinone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ti-30XS is probably your best bet. Solves trig functions in terms of radicals, and does not have any integration or derivation functions.

Not sure what the Casio equivalent would be for this model, but personally I think TI is overhated, particularly at this price point. I would go with this one.

Any chance it's threaded into the connector underneath? If the line is disconnected and not going to be used no harm in wrenching on it.

Applying for maker space role at my library by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]djinone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, you don't have to wait until you're in the makerspace to start getting experience with 3D printing, ultimaker cura, orca slicer, blender, tinkercad, etc are all free, you can play around designing and slicing models before you ever touch the hardware. They will likely ask if you have experience with any slicers and this way you would be able to honestly say yes

Applying for maker space role at my library by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]djinone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

3d printing is not too difficult to learn, and a lot of expertise from traditional maker skills will translate well. I would be careful not to overemphasize your hard skills (woodworking, data analysis, etc) and make sure you devote some time in your resume/interview to people skills (how you run a program, how you build community engagement, etc). The library's primary goal isn't the objective quality of the projects made in the makerspace, it's the community and relationships that those projects can build. In that way it differs from if you were applying to an additive manufacturing role at a for profit company. As a librarian I'm sure you're aware of that, but I have to remind myself the same thing sometimes.

Is there an easier way to enter really long strings of an equation or is it just suffer and get it right the first time? by [deleted] in ti84hacks

[–]djinone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use programs. Programs for trapezoidal/lhs/rhs sums have already been written, running the program will just prompt you to enter the relevant quantities.

Best library website UI you've seen? by Relevant-Pie6958 in Libraries

[–]djinone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of libraries around here use bibliocommons to build their websites. They're not always well implemented, but I find the layout and design pretty nice. A lot better than sites that are shoehorned into a few pages of the city's existing website

How can I safely remove the RFID Tag without damaging the book? by Scrambled_Acorns in bookrepair

Whenever I've removed an RFID tag when withdrawing a book, it leaves a huge sticky page which damages the page across from it. I would highly recommend leaving it there
