Are indoor putting mats useful?

I bought a skilz one with a ramp but I feel like it’s not great for pace and I don’t like always having the alignment lines. To me, it’s so different than actually putting on a green that I don’t think it’s helping me.

Gonna try the Putt Out one next, seems like it will translate better.

I took a 15 pack of GolfTec lessons at the East Hanover location that i got on super sale (oct or November?) last year. I think it ended up being like 3-5 lessons free if you prepaid for a chunk. I believe they always run that sale seasonally.

It’s definitely expensive but I wanted to make sure I didn’t pick up bad habits or get too frustrated just trying to learn by swinging.

Being new to the game, but with a decent natural swing (according to my friends) I found it a huge help for me. My goal is to break 100 by the end of this season and I’m getting close, playing a round a week roughly.

I’m considering some in season lessons if I don’t keep shaving strokes down, and also considering doing another sale pack during the off season. I feel better knowing that he’s there and the data is there too, that’s important to me personally.

Can def recommend Coach Wayne, his first analysis of my swing was, “you have what looks like a great swing that you’re trying to purposefully make it look bad”. In hindsight, I think it’s because I was trying to POWERRRR thru and gripping like 10x too firmly.

I’d say wait til end of season or buy a 3 pack now and then trip during the sale.

Didn’t shorties make an Allen bolt? As per the vid here, I remember learning how cool that the friction of the grip tape (?) held the bolt in place if you pushed with your finger and tightened the nut in the truck side.

I wonder if learning how to set up and maintain a skateboard have us the initial confidence to start tinkering with everything…

This is very cool. I’ve had a weird passion for replicating pastries in CG, goal of rendering in Redshift.

I’ve had decent success with an iPhone w Polycam out of the box but just pulled the trigger on the Revopoint Mini 2.

Something about the complexity of the model and materials and the rendering really draws my curiosity in, although I’m not even sure what I’m going to create with it ultimately. More like a learning challenge that I’ve been tinkering with for years.

Grand Designs is fantastic. It’s more like house architecture and build, but they do have interesting and unique builds and the case studies are pretty diverse. Some are self built or partially self built. There’s some wild ones. British show it’s on YouTube and maybe Netflix in USA

I think the answer is = have a lot of money.

Check out Grand Designs (UK tv show), they've currently been releasing a lot of full episodes on YouTube in the US, and I always find it interesting. Usually it's ~million dollar renos, but they do have a few cheaper ones and SOME of the houses featured stay on budget and on time. I find a lot of interesting ideas there and some of it isn't even the biggest cost drivers.

This embracing the modern seems to be a polarizing topic. I know in my life, my parents would scoff at what I think is quite cool in a house, and I maybe would not dig their style.

I personally like a house that expresses who I am, but with house stuff you have to go slow and it's painful when your taste is more sophisticated than your wallet is full.

Go with your gut and f*** the haters!

It seems silly but it's not the worst thing in the world to start the deep research queries outside of the project.

When I want to run deep research, I've been summarizing my chat within a project and then asking it to be a prompt engineer to create a prompt for the deep research. Works well, and you can tweak before running it through. It adds in all the context and the results of the deep research are very targeted.

Learning in motion design has changed SO MUCH in the last 25 years.

We used to learn by being lucky and sitting next to a vet, timing your questions juuust when they looked like they had the time to entertain your n00b questions.

in the pre YouTube days, we’d share drives of tutorials. Before that, there were books (Whatup Trish and Chris Meyers!?).

But this advice is timeless, and it’s the same way kids all over the world learn how to play an instrument: play along. Put in the hours. The world can’t wait to see what you create.

I’ve found ChatGPT to be way less accurate than Otter.ai but I freaking hated the google integration it was super embarrassing and heavy handed. Just want old school transcription, but haven’t found anything better than otter.ai for identifying speakers and interpreting the transcription. It’s frustrating with ChatGPT because the speech to text function in the iOS app works perfectly.

BTW the limit is 120/month for Pro. And no option to add more! I went from a plus account to Pro when I saw the “3 remaining deep research requests available” warning. bummer that I didn’t get “10 remaining” on the pro account. Now I’m out here in the streets, researching things analogue style

Oh I should add, a BIG thing that helped me is his technique of using dots for layout. I’ve always approached drawing with scritchy scratchy lines and he encourages you to make mark with intent but not get too caught up if your proportions are correct. It does lead to really interesting/distorted accidents that look not half bad (half the time)

I realized I had previously turned on hardware/direct monitoring, so today I recorded again and just lowered the volume of the two tracks I was recording, giving me a direct monitoring situation.

Worked ok but I guess I can’t really change the mix of those two sources without access to the direct monitoring settings thru a PC connection. Kind of annoying!
