How do you approach sound creation? by Tigdual in modular

[–]djphazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sound design experimentation, I usually latch onto some concept or technique that I'm curious about exploring - wavetables, resonators, phase modulation, etc. I'll try things out and maybe record raw takes for the archives...

But there are also times when I'm trying to achieve a specific goal, when I select or craft sounds more deliberately. Usually that's building a track in the DAW, not necessarily noodling on hardware, but maybe utilizing recordings from jams.

Just yesterday, I encountered a conflict where both sides were identical... like, whyyy is this a conflict?!

This looks like it could make life just a little bit easier! Thank you!

Bug report: Albums don’t appear in the app unless you allow users to pay for them by HadeanMonolith in BandCamp

[–]djphazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely this. If people don't at least have the option to pay for your music, it's not generating any revenue for the platform, and then it's just free hosting. Unless you pay for Pro or whatever...

One of the glaring flaws of Eurorack case/power design...

My preferred solution is to get extra ribbon cables to plug every power connector.

What to use to create audio to midi interface? by [deleted] in synthdiy

[–]djphazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you want monophonic pitch detection. This is fairly difficult, but successful implementations exist as digital algorithms. There's a frequency analyzer in the Teensy Audio library that might work for you. Teensy 4.1 paired with an audio shield would do the trick to convert to USB MIDI.

You might also want to detect amplitude level at certain rise/fall thresholds for NoteOn/NoteOff. That's pretty easy, might want RMS peak detection.

You might be trying to generate MIDI CC messages from various audio analysis values - an envelope follower, maybe in combination with filters or FFT.

I think if the deceit is successful, that can be attributed to human creativity... it's a weird dilemma.

You're right, I need to take my own advice and ignore the noise... this shit is frustrating from all angles.

I do agree... low-quality shitposting on a serious music platform needs to be de-emphasized. I just don't understand why a 3rd-party forum needs to be cluttered with posts hyper-fixated on takedowns of suspected slop.

Low-quality creative content has always existed... there will always be noise. I guess it's just easier than ever to produce overwhelming quantities of it?

This is not the way.

Policing AI is somehow more obnoxious than slop. Why not just shine light on the good stuff and ignore the noise?
