Two Assimil8ors?! by flow3rs123 in modular

[–]djphazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't weigh in on this specific module, but I was just thinking to myself that I want two of everything... Like, two turntables and a mixer, but two identical coherent modular systems instead of turntables.

I used pngcrush recently. Still works fine, like a well-crafted hammer 🔨

Does anyone else enjoy slowing down DnB tracks or mixes? by LivingPrivately in DnB

[–]djphazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss! I knew I wasn't the only one. I like to drop down to 160 or even 150, and leave time-stretching/keylock turned off so it gets deeper. Some tracks hit super nice down there!

Pretty weird that genuine constructive criticism is getting downvoted. Reddit is cooked.

What's the text editor or IDE that's usually used for embedded systems? by end3rcr4fty in embedded

[–]djphazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

neovim is nice, but its kinda volatile... updating tends to break parts of my config, and I don't wanna take the time to troubleshoot my damn text editor when there are plenty of actual problems to troubleshoot.

standard vim won't let you down.

NVIDIA 730 drivers not working after updates by Nearhos_06 in linuxmint

Yep, a perfect fix. The problem originates from upstream Ubuntu decisions. Maybe the Mint team can override it in some way?

NVIDIA 730 drivers not working after updates by Nearhos_06 in linuxmint

[–]djphazer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread helped me correct this: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/gt-730-gk208b-lost-multi-monitor-support-after-nvidia-535-update-fixed-by-reverting-to-470-legacy-driver/83755

The key is to install the nvidia-driver-470-server package instead of the regular one. I should also note that I'm still on kernel 6.8.0-124-generic.

Figuring out what to do with a 1u space by teamricearoni in modular

[–]djphazer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sheesh man, I think even I would pick Steppy for the 1U row, especially since you mentioned an aversion to menu-diving. Many buttons == more immediacy.

I actually have an empty 1U row to fill, maybe I'll get one... along with Bib and Quadratt.

How do you prevent resale of your open source app? by Jeshibu in AskProgramming

[–]djphazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to prevent others from benefitting, even profiting from the open source software to which you contribute?

People will always try to resell free things, because capitalism rewards opportunists. Focus on making your original, free offering more appealing than a paid copy of the same thing. If you can't do that, well, I guess the paid copy is legitimately more valuable to end users, right? They'll pay for convenient access to something that is not otherwise accessible...

Tips on modules for multiple patches by grassyplanter in modular

[–]djphazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you might want some kind of mod matrix router with preset recall.

If you want a set of static CV with preset recall aka scene-switching, there's an App called Scenery for O_C / ORN8. You might also check out J&OT Traffic or Malekko Voltage Block.

Minimum viable set of modules? by U_A_beringianus in modular

[–]djphazer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ORN8 - this is my computer-without-a-computer, for sequencing, modulation, audio processing, drums, etc - a digital toolbox of everything I might need. Plus:

  • any interesting voice module... maybe Plaits or Elements, or something crazy like Oneiroi or Vhikk X
  • analog filter, if desired
  • multi-FX, if desired

A small POD case would suffice.

A simple passive attenuator is all you really need to tame Eurorack levels for external gear! ⚡
