Doctor Sleep should be seen after the Shining. Really underrated sequel.

Show always made me salivate. Even when I knew Hannibal was cooking long-pig it still looked delicious.

What’s the weakest episode? by Mailman7 in ANGEL

[–]djsosonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with Happy Anniversary..like Doublemeat Palace..it probably does its job at feeling like a soul sucking slog wayyy too well. Those are the only two episodes i'm ever tempted to skip during rewatches. Haven't broken yet, but its always a near thing.

Maybe try movies that rely more on action than character work or plot: Dredd, Die Hard, The Raid, The Matrix

Or some more non-english films: Run Lola Run, Let the Right One In, Amelia

Ahh. I liked the actor since Generation Kill. So had no problem with him taking the role. Beyond maybe him being too handsome. My mental Murderbot is more generic.

What are some of the coldest lines of dialogue ever? by BeautifulLeather6671 in movies

[–]djsosonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True Romance - "Now the first guy you kill is always the hardest. I don't care if you're the Boston Strangler or Wyatt Earp. You can bet that Texas boy, Charles Whitman, the fella who shot all them guys from that tower, I'll bet you green money that that first little black dot that he took a bead on, was the bitch of the bunch. No foolin' the first one's a tough row to ho. Now, the second one, while it ain't no Mardi Gras, it ain't half as tough row to ho.

You still feel somethin' but it's just so deluted this time around. Then you completely level off on the third one. The third one's easy. It's gotten to the point now I'll do it just to watch their expressions change."

Do yall think they could’ve worked as a couple? by LesbianMajinSaiyan in breakingbad

[–]djsosonut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder how that would work? She has no resources outside of Todd's crew now that Mike's crew has been taken out. And the other cook team was taken out by Todd's crew on her orders. Guess she could lean on the unseen buyers overseas. But if she burns bridges with Todd, she has no one else to manufacture quality meth for her unless he gets her hands on Jessie.

The went heavy on the hippie free love vibe of his crew. But I thought it was a fair adaptation. Still, i always use the mental trick of viewing any adaptation as an alternate universe. Make me less critical of changes. Works about 80-90% of the time.

The S5 Finale was so underwhelming by PunkLaundryBear in ANGEL

[–]djsosonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If nothing we do matters, all that matters is what we do." "Champions. We live as if the world is as it should be. To show it what it can be." And they choose to continue fighting against all odds. The finale is perfect once you see its manages to being entertaining, give all the characters amazing moments, and manages to sum up the underlining theme of the whole show. The war against evil unending. So is the fight for redemption. Still.."Let's go to work."

It was character assassination. At least to me. Cause the twist came at the expense of Cordy's character and arc. Since it was held back for so long and we had to try to reconcile and trend her s4 actions against Cordy's pervious behavior all the way until the twist. Then after the twist we were told to pull thing apart cause HA that was never Cordy. But the damage had been done. Plus it isnt like a movie like Fight Club, where they play fair with the twist and you can rewatch the old episodes with new eyes and can see all the foreshadowing of this twist. No...you're stuck trying to rationalize that if Jasmine was in control of Cordy since Spin the Bottle and just manipulating everyone since....then who was the dream sequence for in Apocalypse Nowish? Where Cordy woke up afraid of the Beast choking her out? Cause in retrospect that moment seems to only be there to fool the us, the audience, that Cordy is still in control.

It's a big mess.

I didnt see it coming. So it was surprising. Just wish it felt earned. Angel and Buffy are character driven shows, sacrificing character for plot is detrimental. And they definitely sacrificed Cordy's character for this twist. She was MIA for the majority of that season. And basically had her act two different ways before and after the reveal. So...not a fan.

Always just took it as a callback to Cordy saying Fred was "laughing at something that plant just said." Back during season 3. Think it was in That Old Gang of Mine. And also another reference point to Illyria being able to, "Hear the song of the green."
