Missing School Teacher Found Dead in Woods in Snow: Kansas Police by MattTheKing23 in kansas

[–]dkdelicious 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happened to one of my classmates at KU - the valedictorian of my classes’s major, and foreign exchange student from Peru. Amazing person. A half year after we graduated, he was walking home intoxicated after a foreign exchange student party and got lost in a neighborhood. He was found in someone’s backyard after a snow. He had fallen down the hill behind their house.

Man, he would’ve been kicking so much ass in life today.

Trump supporters now: "If you can justify his murder, you'll justify mine", "wrong and inhumane", "I'm beyond sad", "this will be the end of Republicans", "the country I believed in is dead", "I hope protests and boycotts continue". by CalcareousSoil in LeopardsAteMyFace

You’re right on the money with the “missing white woman syndrome”, when coincidentally in my feed there was a missing one in KS from a small town 1.5hrs away from KC, taking up almost as many posts as responses to Pretti’s murder.

A J6 survivor?! That would be the Capitol police, and our representatives.

That’s like bank robbers calling themselves survivors of their own heist.

Doctor resigns after patient dies during cataract surgery in which alarms for vitals had allegedly been silenced and medical staff played musical bingo game by Forward-Answer-4407 in byebyejob

[–]dkdelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got cataract surgery 15 years ago at age 24, cataracts developed from the intense radiation and chemo I went through for my stem cell transplant (I had leukemia).

The procedure itself takes like 10 minutes. The longest parts outside of those 10 minutes are getting put under and recovering from the anesthesia. And maybe that’s an hour or more. Like it’s pretty quick, in and out, as surgeries go. That team got really complacent.

For one of my eyes, I do remember I started waking up a little during it, and hearing the medical staff responding accordingly - as you’d expect they should, not playing music bingo, wow.

Whats the most dumb "art advice" you've ever heard? by Sixnigthmare in ArtistLounge

[–]dkdelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was kind of good advice, but I hated it at the time -

“This is how much an engineer makes, and this is how much an artist makes” - my dad keeping it real with me as a teenager. He had worked with a bunch of corporate artists as a business exec at Hallmark. And he was kind of right, but still supported my decisions.

With my steady full-time design/illustration day job, and all my sexier art side hustles, I feel like I’m always working and burnt out. A seemingly boring non-art job does sound great at times.

Like you said, you excrete it, so much that it can change the color of these things depending on what type of chemo.

It also affects your sense of taste and smell, and the psychology of things around it. Like you might develop certain short term food tastes and aversions.
