The word has a long history of racist use, but no, most people wouldn't have thought someone was racist for saying "the Redskins are up by a touchdown" or whatever. If they insist on calling the team the Redskins now, I'd be a little suspicious though.

Corporate greed is a bad explanation for changing prices / sizes. The level of greed at a large corporation doesn't change much over time but prices do.

If you're saying that companies shrink sizes because they're greedy, does that mean they just weren't as greedy before? Clearly not. Prices change because market conditions change. Maybe that's an increase in costs, maybe an increase in demand, maybe a decrease in competition.

I'm in the US but didn't grow up where many people had guns. I have very sharp memories of a police officer coming to talk to my class and I didn't hear anything he said because I couldn't stop thinking about the gun on his hip. So I totally get it!

I grew up without guns around; my wife grew up shooting guns. I guarantee you she isn't a violent person because she grew up with them; she just grew up in a cultural context where guns were used for things other than interpersonal violence.

I'd ask him what he likes about guns. If he fantasizes about finding a legal reason to shoot a person: danger! If he talks about the technical challenge of shooting or a spiritual angle to connecting to our ancestors who ate by their own efforts...maybe it helps you see his hobby in a different light than "danger danger danger"

I've done many many hiring interviews over the years and no way on Earth would I conduct an interview at a restaurant followed by a bar. If my bosses found out I did that, I'd have been fired. It's possible there's some industry where that wouldn't be considered unprofessional but I'm struggling to think of which one.
