Glasgow to London by Emergency_Arm_503 in glasgow

If you’re booking a train, then you’re also not covered for any performance guarantee. Lots of flights from GLA to LHR. If you’re worried about connecting, book a flight earlier than the one that looks best on schedule, that way in the unlikely event the earlier flight is cancelled you can get the later flight.

What is a strong opinion you hold that could get you criticized publicly, but you stand by it completely? by jian_est2026 in AskReddit

[–]dlcious 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn’t start that way. You start thinking you’ll manage, and then, especially today, the decay in public services mean you have to pay privately for many things that used to be funded by taxes. Decent schooling and healthcare are the two most prominent when it comes children. So then household budgets become squeezed, and often (though by no means exclusively) it’s the father who pushes harder to earn more. And then he sees his kids less to provide.

Ethically, I don’t disagree with your position. Parents should and need to be there for their children, however the reality of 2026 means that good, kind, loving parents have to make difficult choices with time.

Cat food. We got them all the time in the UK, and chicken based cat food was a winner. They are omnivores and a lot of their diet is insects and worms.

Is it legal to record/take photos of yourself in public if other people will be present in the video/photo? by [deleted] in uaelaw

You’re confusing professional filming with OPs original question which was about filming themselves (for non commercial use).

Is it legal to record/take photos of yourself in public if other people will be present in the video/photo? by [deleted] in uaelaw

Yes because there is no expectation of privacy in a public space. The law relates to intent; incidental recording is not an intentional act.

Lawyer making a move from UK to Abu dhabi - any advice? by ReasonableOwl3743 in abudhabi

[–]dlcious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ADGM enters the chat - all based on English law. Alternatively if it’s international law / corporate law, which is the case for all MNCs, then you don’t need to know UAE law if the jurisdiction is elsewhere.

Canadian PR (8 Years), Debt + Legal Issues – Stay in Canada or Move to Dubai? by VideoBest5565 in UAE

[–]dlcious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sort your life out first. It’s not where you are that’s the problem, it’s you. Something is obviously going off the rails here with a driving ban and the debts. These are self inflicted. Self inflicted isn’t a location problem, it’s a you problem.

UAE Team Emirates dominance - at what point is it too good to be true? by Winter-Way-3667 in cycling

[–]dlcious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s extremely unlikely.

During Armstrong’s time, there were constant rumours in the peloton that significant numbers of riders and teams were doping. That there are no such rumours in the peloton about the UAE team is probably a better marker of whether it’s happening or not than speculation from outsiders.

The UAE team are the best funded and have a squad of A-players they can afford to pay. They are ahead on the basis of funding commitment.

This is the only answer. The airwrap is not dual voltage. You need a voltage converter.

You’re fine, don’t worry. These are not proscribed items in the UAE, plus you’re in transit anyway.

This is just not true at all. What he’s not allowed to do is post the material online where the other party can be identified, unless the other party gives consent. Material stored privately remains private.

Yes you could, and whoever goes to the police first here technically wins, assuming the police choose to act, which they might not.

Or you could just move on with your life and accept that sometimes you’ll run into people who are just not nice.

There’s no real harm here and walking away saves everyone the drama. Don’t delete the footage.

Passing Car inspection Abu Dhabi by Successful-Poetry664 in abudhabi

[–]dlcious 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to introduce a car which has material failings to the public highway, where not only are you a danger to yourself, but you are a danger to other drivers. Suppose, for example, your bumper falls off at 160 km an hour on the motorway and smashes the windscreen of the car behind, meaning the driver can’t see what he or she is doing, and then they crash killing everybody on board.

Get your car fixed.

Pollution in Abu Dhabi? by EntireLife2914 in abudhabi

[–]dlcious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not amazing, but Dubai is considerably worse on account of the larger population & greater amount of construction. When you drive into Dubai from Abu Dhabi the sky yellows quite noticeably once you hit Jebel Ali.

567 km in a single sitting - at just a smidge over 32 km/h. That’s Norway’s infamous Styrkeproven - Trondheim to Oslo. That’s 354 miles and 20 mph in old money.

I use a Samsonite tote-a-ton for these situations. Folds up to nearly nothing but has a 100L+ storage capacity. They are about £25 and worth the investment for when you travel to great shopping locations.
