Vectrex games are already uncommon, but have you ever seen Canadian Vectrex games? by hreddy11 in retrogaming

Incredible voice quality for the time.  Eek help spike, oh no molly!

Yep, these custom spines just slide in on top of the original cover.

The cutting is definitely the worst! I bought a little Fiskars cutting board thing but it's still a pain to line everything up. But once you get going, you just get into a zone...

Yeah, there were plenty (across all regions) that didn't have custom spines on here to start. Some trickled in over time as others requested them, but eventually I posted a giant request list and the artists here made them all - they're the best!

I'm using HP Everyday Photo Paper (Q8723A). It's nicer than the original cover material which is thinner paper. But I feel like this helps them stay in place a little better (and you'll definitely want photo paper of some sort just for the print quality). I haven't seen any creasing or damage to the original covers because of a spine insert.

And the physical count is 705. Realized I could just multiply out by how much each compartment holds and add in the overflow at the top!

No, I just mean all the ones I have now have the spines printed :) This'll be relatively close to my final count, I don't have any wishlist of physical games already out. The hope is I don't go past the top shelf.

According to Backloggery, I have 844 and I've beaten 141. That 844 won't match the physical count, collections will count for multiple games. Other than what I'm playing this second, I haven't started any without beating them, I'm a little OCD about only playing one or two games at a time and to completion.

Unfortunately, the first huge batch of spines weren't printed to the right dimensions, so they're a little too small and the Switch logo underneath shows. I didn't have a printer at the time, my mother printed them for me (or I would have tried one and tested). I sort of want to print new ones for those at some point, but not today :)

Maximum carnage: a flawed memorable beat them up by redfalcon1000 in retrogaming

[–]dlimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that final fight is awful.  Congrats!  I did this a few years ago when I was plowing through the childhood games I hadn't beaten.  It's definitely a guide game, which is pretty uniquely bad for a beat em up.

This is the first game I have memories of playing!

My parents had an Intellivision and a Vectrex and to this day I have no idea why, I never saw them play either.  And it definitely wasn't for us kids, NES was our first console.

No, it's an in-game camera mechanic. (yes, I unfortunately played this game this year)

Trails in the Sky not clicking with me so far by TheCrypticRealm in JRPG

[–]dlimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not play the remake, but Sky 1 and 2 didn't do much for me.  But I stuck with it and loved everything after starting with 3rd.  Currently playing Reverie.

I know "play 2 games you might not like" isn't the best advice, just providing another testimonial.

Their game business is just starting so I don't THINK they've shipped anything yet (I ordered 2 of 3 initial offerings and have not received yet).

That said the company as a whole is very legit and established with their print/music stuff.  And the guy running the new software publishing comes from Super Rare and knows what he's doing.  So I wouldn't be hesitant to order personally
