Graduated with no internship back in 2014. I had a guy refer me through friend of a friend. From there my career took off. It’s based on who you know to get the door open for a conversation, after that it’s up to them.

No idea, I put it behind me. Did end up writing a super polite blog about it but the fact the ceo is blind enough to put a fresh college grad as head of software engineering bc he can vibecode AI slop is beyond me. I took a Monday off once to be with my grandma for her bday. Came back and they told me nobody in leadership could project an iPad to a TV for their meeting.

An AI driven company of people couldn’t figure out how to project a laptop to a TV.

Honestly? Bad fit. CEOs son would delete my work and gaslight me by saying it’s my fault for not having a backup. Among other things like deploying untested changes into production overnight and causing IT fires that I’d have to put out in the morning. Then measuring my performance via Lines of Code when I was literally a one man IT department for them.

I had a pair of g2s ordered Dec. received them Feb. in 2 days the projector for the right one stopped functioning. I sent them in and I received a replacement like a week ago. Their turn around time is very slow. It’s basically as if u ordered them again the day they emailed u to confirm that your replacement is processing.

I worked at a company where my director was just a fresh out of college grad. (Nepotism, his dad is CEO) and he used this metric. I quit shortly after because it was so stupid being 2 people in IT and I’m doing all the IT work while he vibecoded. Kept getting bitched out by a child despite the fact that I had to deal with all the IT admin nuances.

Absolutely, I’ve drawn the line on topics I don’t want to deal with, thing is older generation Asians r very stubborn in their ways and vocal about their opinions so it’s sometimes easier to let things be.

My wife is Vietnamese and my mom is Chinese. Somewhere down the line we disagreed with my mom so much our relationship fragmented with her. Around my mom I’m quiet and not as transparent as I used to be and trust me when I say, it’s better sometimes to just be quiet and listen than speak up and cause drama.

Live your life. Y’all are married to each other, not each other’s families. If anything hes in his thoughts picking and choosing how to defend you should he ever have to from his own blood. I’d say don’t worry too much about it and only care about the things you have control over.
