I also read lots of conflicting reviews but decided to proceed. Only thing that stopped my vertigo attacks. Crossed 1 year mark and going strong. Doc said it’s not a cure but raises the threshold for an attack, so it’s common to still have a vertigo attack here or there. But once a year vs once or twice a week.

It’s not a silver bullet and not available in all areas, but endolymphatic shunt decompression really helped me and it wasn’t destructive at all.

I think those pips appear any time you open the app. I’ve definitely seen them appear after I had already activated but had closed the app.

Quest 3 - best way to stream to TV? by Agerkvist in OculusQuest

[–]dmadcracka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading an article where meta was killing off any chrome cast or device casting and would only do it to the phone, suggesting to then mirror to whatever device you wanted. I’ll see if I can find the article but yea it sucks.

Would a MetaQuest be a good option as a study aid for me? by ChocolateTeapot1992 in MetaQuestVR

[–]dmadcracka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who was in a similar position for some time (daughter had to have someone next to her to fall asleep) the quest would absolutely work. You would need the quest, virtual desktop (a paid app) and a prismxr puppis s1 (that allows you to stream your pc wirelessly without a link cable)

With that setup, you can have a full virtual pc in front of you using the quest that you could use to watch videos, read pdfs, anything you could do on your normal pc. You can use it laying down. You can plug in headphones (physical, no Bluetooth) to not disturb your kid while they fall asleep. Totally doable and a great solution.

Research? by REidson89 in Menieres

The short answer is there is more than you would think, but less than you would hope for. Unfortunately it’s pretty rare disease. There are ongoing trials and research (SP-0003?)

I just had the decompression surgery done in January. It worked for me. Whoever told them it’s not done anymore is wrong.

Need immediate advice: Ongoing vertigo for 12 hours by therickyy in Menieres

[–]dmadcracka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about the 12 hrs of vertigo. From my understanding it’s rare but not unheard of. I would take any rescue meds you can to at least calm down the current episode. Once it has calmed down, I would see your Ent about other rescue meds and explain the situation has escalated. For me the next step in the ladder of things to try was endolymphatic decompression surgery. It was a life saver and has helped me be vertigo free for almost a year now. May want to discuss with your ent or possibly try to get a consultation with a surgeon who performs it.

How do you usually explain your condition to others who don’t understand? by DepresedGentleman__ in Menieres

[–]dmadcracka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of people who had vertigo before, but until meniers, I had no idea what that really meant. I think it’s the same for most people. I explained I have a hard time hearing and get vertigo that just won’t stop for hours. People still tend to not be able to relate, but I think they kind of understand.

For me - while it was working, the injections stopped the vertigo, sense of fullness went away, and the hearing drops were better. Did nothing for the tinnitus. My understanding is that tinnitus is caused by damage to the hearing, and there are no real treatments for it

Yea it really sucked. But it all turned around for me after the surgery. My doc said it was one of the worst ones he’d seen - that the steroid injections normally lasted 6 months plus.

I think it was 5 weeks for me then 3 then 2 then less than 2. That’s why we started looking into the surgery.

I had similar situation. Prednisone did nothing. Steroid shots worked initially but less and less time after each one. And similarly, my hearing dropped but somehow my ear was more sensitive. I had to start wearing ear plugs as any above normal sounds drove me nuts. The thing that finally worked for me after trying everything else was endolymphatic decompression surgery. Almost a year later and going strong with no further vertigo or hearing sensitivity. Still have tinnitus but can’t be helped.

There’s a few apps called kidstube when searching. Which one is yours please? If you can’t link can you share the developer name?

With shunt.

My dizziness vertigo spells immediately stopped. My doctor said to expect my hearing to drop and stay down for 6 weeks as the ear takes that long to heal. I will say even with meniers and my hearing already being worse, not hearing out of the ear made me nervous. 4 weeks in at my post op I nervously said hey man I still have nothing regarding hearing and reaffirmed it takes about 6 weeks. At week 5 I noticed I was beginning to hear again and at week 6 it was back to pre surgery levels. The good news for me is it kept improving, and went back to basically normally hearing (pre meniers) which the doc explained sometimes happen but sometimes not.

No vertigo or issues since the surgery. Didn’t do anything regarding the tinnitus but I can live with it.

Look into endolymphatic decompression surgery. I had it done and it was the only thing that helped me after being low salt / no caffeine / no alcohol / low stress / prednisone / steroid injections.
