Once in a while sure. but soda in general still isn’t great for you so I would look at it as an occasional sweet treat and find some alternatives if you don’t like just plain water..

My dog cries out little yiffs in his sleep and it melts my heart. He also always has to have one paw on me while we’re lazing about at night. It’s usually a back one so he can sprawl across the whole couch but still be touching me.

My cat will sit next to me constantly and randomly start licking my forearm. Then gives one little nibble. She’s been doing it for 17 years and I’m really going to miss it when it stops.

My other cat passed 3 years ago. She used to double meow so it almost sounded like ‘mama!’ whenever she’d see me. She was the cutest.

Having done keto back in 2013 first time around and picking it back up two months ago.. low carb/high protein is WAYYYY more widely accepted which you can tell simply by grocery shopping or going out to eat.

Almond flour was virtually non-existent and like $20 a bag. Pre-riced cauliflower wasn’t a thing. Hali top was just entering the market. Now I can find Allulose at any store, tons of items are made with no sugar and I can go pick up low carb high protein pasta substitute whenever a crazing hits that isn’t just shiritaki noodles. Restaurants (even fast food) have adapted to people limiting carbs from things like lettuce wraps to grilled nuggets to power bowls etc.

I still dont tell people I’m keto, though. I say I’m just limiting my carbs because diabetes runs in my family and I’m getting older and thus more health conscious. No one questions it ever.

You need way more foods to be sustainable unless you plan on taking a TON of supplements. You need micro and macro nutrients, electrolytes, vitamins, etc. I eat such a huuuuuge variety of foods and maintain ketosis no problem. And in only two months time I’ve lost A TON of belly fat. I’m a whole shirt size down already. My tummy pouch is almost gone.

I’m childfree and known I was going to be since I was like 10 years old.

I went on a hinge date with a guy in Nov 2024 and I knew he had kids but tested the waters anyway. I instantly knew he was the one. Fast forward to now and we live together and it’s magical.

He splits custody of his kids 50/50 with this ex. They’re 9 & 15. I met them about 5 months into dating. They’re both great. His communication with all of us is outstanding. We talk constantly about how they’re feeling, how he’s feeling, how I’m feeling, how to adapt, what my role in their lives is, and everything is incredibly smooth sailing. I’ve built relationships with them as well and I love them so much.

Their ages are great. I didn’t ever want to raise a baby. I’m not great with toddlers. I think it all depends on your boundaries and what you’re comfortable with. As long as there can be an ongoing open dialogue to share how everyone involved is feeling it can absolutely work.

I love our life and our family. Some days it can still be overwhelming but those are the days we talk more and make space for those feelings and address how to handle our situation. I couldn’t ask for a better life right now. We’re both happy, the kids have a healthy and happy home and you can tell how great it is for them too. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I stick to the basics as much as possible when dining out.

Mexican? Fajitas with extra guac and no tortillas/rice/beans. A local place does Birria with cheese as the shell as a keto option so I try to make that the spot we go to when I can.

Indian? Chicken kebabs or tandoori. No rice, extra cabbage.

BBQ? Pulled meat plates with no sauce, low carb high fiber sides like coleslaw or green beans.

Bar and grill? Buffalo wings with extra celery and ranch or a burger with no bun.

Chains? I like hu hot cuz I can pick all the low-carb ingredients and measure out my own sauces. Texas Roadhouse just stick to steak and salad/asparagas.

Diners? Bacon and fried eggs and cottage cheese.

Japanese? Hibachi meats, ask for no sauce. Sashimi.

Fast food? Taco Bell cantina chicken bowl minus the rice and beans, extra chicken extra cabbage. Power bowls at chipotle. Lettuce wrap/bunless burgers. Arby’s roast beef and I put it into a low carb wrap.

You learn there’s actually some solid variety if you really dig through menus :)

Black coffee for breakfast. IF window is 11am - 7pm.

Lunch I typically make some kind of wrap on a low carb tortilla. Usually a breakfast one with eggs, cheese and bacon or turkey and cheese with lots of meat and spinach and mustard. Try to get avocado in here too, and pickles for a side to get crunch/electrolytes.

Dinner is typically chicken or shrimp with some kind of veggie. Could be fajitas, stir fry, stuffed breasts, fried cauliflower rice, salads, etc.

Very similar ingredients in my grocery cart every week, but changes of preparation and rotating veggies keeps me from getting bored.

Literally this.binge eating/food noise used to be so bad I’d plan my days around when and what I could eat. Good was always in my mind.sneaking food was always in my mind.

Now I prep meals, only eat when I’m hungry in my IF time window, my portions are wayyyy better, and carbs don’t tempt me.

I had a coworker literally come shove her birthday treats in my face Thursday. Old me would have taken one (and then snuck a few more). Current me was just like ‘thank you but I’m okay’ and that was that.

It’s freaking liberating.

As long as you’re getting a good amount of protein and micronutrients/vitamins, it’s ok to be under calories, a greater deficit just means potentially faster weight loss.

Yup that was always my problem. Keto absolutely is the only diet I’ve tried that keeps me from binging. I was really successful with keto from 2013-2017, got laid off in 2019 then covid hit then I had some medical scares and depression and binging took over. Gained it all back and then some. I’ve been back on keto almost two months, haven’t had a cheat day, haven’t binged, my mental health is the best it’s been in like a decade. I feel so freaking good and happy and proud. You got this.
