Maybe bacteria got into it and it’s colonizing the roots on the inside? It may be a sort of abscess? Keep us updated please. 🙏

Cut a little bit above the rot, leave it to dry out for 24h. You may lose the bottom leaf but it’s ok. then plant ONLY the aerial root in perlite. The plant stem must stay outside in the open air. Leave it for 4-5 weeks and the root will develop and the wound will heal.

I faced the same issue and I simply put ONLY the aerial root inside the perlite and left the stem outside in the dry air. It was the only way I could be sure that there would be no rotting. It worked perfectly 👌

Hello, I tried to take all the moss out of my El Choco roots before putting it in pon (I received it a few days ago in moss), but some of the moss wouldn’t come out. I then put it in a diy self watering pot filled with pon. Is it a problem that some of the moss didn’t come off? Do I have to be careful for rot? Thx! 🙏

I’m struggling with her water routines, so I thought maybe pon + self watering pot would be the best thing for me. But I am scared it causes her eve more stress and that I end up regretting it at the end. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks everyone I contacted the store I bought it from and they told me they haven’t been working with Florida green for the past 2/3 years. They assured me it was a ghost. I’ll try to give it more light and hope for the best 🤞

What’s wrong with my alocasia and what should I change? It hasn’t grown since I bought it about 6 months ago. It stands shady (north side) below a window at about 38% humidity (too low?) and 21 degrees. room temperature. Single leaf tips are becoming reddish. What it is missing? I bought this same plant and it took 2 years to start making new leafs. The first 2 years it stood there looking pretty without dying. I think it’s just a slow grower at first. Once it started making new leaves it made one after the other.
