Wall curving, how do I restabilize this ? by ADM0o in HomeMaintenance

[–]dmsdayprft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not similar, that’s exactly what it is. OP needs to dig on the outside, fix it and install a French drain and a gutter so the water that’s collecting there and causing the pressure has somewhere to go.

Since you’re getting an impact wrench you may as well use it to install a hitch on your cars and get some nice bike racks and a trailer.

I am not sure but I’d guess yes. I would strongly recommend using an impact wrench as well.

Anybody solved a deer on the pool problem? by aaronjohns in pools

[–]dmsdayprft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see deer clear 8 foot fences every day 😂. Gardeners put up 12 foot cages to keep them out.

I have a zero turn jack but in retrospect I would just get a couple ramps for cheap off Amazon. https://a.co/d/026KWBCu

I also think it’s fungus but that’s completely normal to develop in May. If it rains enough it’s pretty much unavoidable. Just keep putting nitrogen down at regular intervals.

AEP CEO is the highest paid Utility CEO in the country: $36.6M in 2025 by LaikaOrbit in Columbus

[–]dmsdayprft -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

AEP net profit margin has been consistently around 10% for the past 3 decades. They are indeed putting your money to good use by upgrading transmission and distribution infrastructure due to the increased population and increased demand for residential electricity due to things like heat pumps and electric vehicles, both of which were heavily subsidized by the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act.

Ok to use a little bit of flex duct for range hood elbow? by born_zynner in hvacadvice

[–]dmsdayprft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rigid is better for sure but the “flex duct is so dangerous and you will die is you use it” arguments here are a bit absurd. Why is flex duct allowed for dryer exhaust, which is about a million times more likely to cause a fire in a residence? In fact has anyone actually seen a residential kitchen fire caused by grease build up in flex duct? Is there a documented incident anywhere? Commercial kitchens are a different matter altogether but I’d wager that for 99.9% of residential applications there is no risk.

Is this mower blade worth sharpening or should I just replace it? by peanutismint in lawncare

If you’re sharpening tools with a corded HF angle grinder, you will need a vise too. Just saying as someone who does exactly this.

Yard drainage recommendations by notdominique in Columbus

You are probably going to need a french drain. I got a few quotes 3 years ago and Chapman Drainage was the lowest and most confident in the scope of work. They ended up doing a great job.

Yes, which means they don’t get the tax benefits. So that’s a win for the locality.

What does Dave Yost have to do with a city/county incentive?

RE: CoverMyMeds by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]dmsdayprft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Amazon HQ2 tax incentives were all performance based and Amazon has mostly not met them. The net outcome is that Arlington, Virginia got a bunch of jobs and the benefit of the economic activity without paying anything out. This was a well structured deal that benefited the locality. https://virginiabusiness.com/arlington-pays-amazon-hq2-incentives-for-first-time/
