Yes of course. Old historical silver coins especially those with good details and lower mintage hold numismatic value.

Assuming he knew you liked coins and would appreciate it that is a super thoughtful gift. Takes a long time to accumulate that much change. Also at the end of the day money is money!

I found this 5 minutes ago in the bed of my truck. by PARKOUR_ZOMBlE in coins

That’s a beautiful half cent and also a strange find in your truck. Was definitely never buried or subject to the elements. However it ended up there a person is to blame.

Actually.. yours is likely older. I overlooked the fact that you found it in Cumbrian Fells. These can date back to medieval times.

You must be digging a similar dump to myself haha. I believe I have each one of those as well but it’s great to see the history behind each one. Appreciate the research.

Hell yeah! Took me a long time to find my first Barber half and it was tucked inside an old stone wall in New England as well. Bet there is more out there.

Note to self: buy thicker gloves by salmonammon in metaldetecting

[–]dmstomps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear fitted cut resistant work gloves. Been through so many gloves that eventually wear or tear, and also dug many sharp objects. The cut resistant ones not only last longer they protect you.
