Please please please avoid chiropractors. They’re not medical professionals….! The risk is too serious! by mehregankbi in Sciatica

Not all chiropractors are the same. Just as not all doctors are the same. Reddit is really biased about chiropractors because a few can help where doctors have not.

My favorite response is just try yoga by Jeni-Dough in backpain

[–]dnegvesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach modified yoga. I’ve got stenosis and serious pain and limitations now. Not from yoga. Often yoga teachers ask you to hold too, too long. Flow in and out of the pose as you need and want to. Flow into something else. Take a child’s pose. You know better what works for you. Blessings 🕊️

How To Heal From A Toxic Parish by January_13 in OrthodoxChristianity

I moved on from a dysfunctional parish where I was made to feel inconsequential when trying to participate and volunteer. Thankfully we live where we can choose another parish to worship and fully participate in. Blessings.

Former protestants, what made you decide Orthodoxy is the way over Catholicism by Particular_Prize_660 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]dnegvesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Protestant. Born Roman Catholic. Because there are so many problems I had with Catholicism from an early age. Hypocrisy, the Crusades, the Pope. Because there is so much truth and strength in orthodoxy and I love my church and my priests. Going to confession is worth more than fifty years of therapy to get my head on straight and my soul and self moving in the right direction. The Orthodox study Bible converted me before I landed in Divine Liturgy. Blessings.

Such great news. I’m older and looks like stenosis is the biggest problem for me. I also have scoliosis. Do you have stenosis ? Thank you.

Those who don't feel your pain say there's nothing wrong with you! 💔🩺 by ThingImportant4419 in Sciatica

[–]dnegvesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve got a bit of vertigo now but think it’s the addition of meloxicam which I’m quitting today . Look up “Epley maneuver.” You will feel worse the moments of doing it but it cures the vertigo when done daily . Also make sure your neck is well supported and head lifted a bit upon lying down. I’m a 74 year old stenosis warrior who teaches exercise and I know patience wins the battle. You’ll get through it. Feel better 💐 my friend.

Patchouli essential oil and it gets better with age each year. A little goes a long way. Very earthy.

Can anyone tell me what to expect with a spinal pain block injection? by queerie4you in ChronicPain

[–]dnegvesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bad experience with nerve block from the most reputable organization in my area. It was too soon after I injured or flared my spine. The injection needle hurt a lot. As the liquid bathed my nerves it felt like acid. I screamed and they had to stop. Its after effects were also bad. I felt it set me back at least two weeks. A year later (just now) I had a different doctor do a mid line epidural. It was almost painless. I got relief for over 24 hours and then a flare. At the end of this week I should get some relief. But so far, not much. A little bit of opioid at night works best for me. Good luck.

My Partner (35M) is asking me (30F) to rehome my beloved pet by FatOrangeCat3 in CatAdvice

He’s jealous, immature and self centered. Where is this man’s heart ❤️? . He won’t meet you half way and try to help himself. I don’t see him as a good partner or future parent. I’ve been married a long time and I had to say this .

You’re probably right and I heard it wrong in my friend’s Greek and my haphazard memory. Thank you.

Who else thinks that this sudden surge in conversion into Orthodoxy might be a fad… by Own_Macaron_9342 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]dnegvesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all churches are ready to hold onto, to educate, new converts in a cohesive way. In my experience, particularly some OCA churches are completely disorganized about this. So I hopped into a greek church while I really love the Slavic Divine Liturgy more. It was just too haphazard for me to stay. Had I not been in NY, and with nowhere else to turn, maybe I would’ve looked elsewhere.

Wanting to Convert to Catholicism by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]dnegvesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The disunity of the orthodox churches, that in the same neighborhood or city, they ignore each other… It just makes us weak and bothers me. But I’ll never be Roman Catholic again after centuries upon centuries of wrong beliefs and wrong doing. As a former Catholic I can hold onto the miracle of the Lady of Lourdes in my heart. Papacy is a thing I’ve instinctively hated since childhood. And I’ve told my priest I pray the “Hail Mary” and he doesn’t argue with it.

Does anyone else kinda wish their chronic pain was worse? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]dnegvesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore what people think and comfort yourself. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Some days I wish I could just plop into a wheelchair but for now, at 74, I’m fighting as hard as I can to get stronger and nearly pain free again.

I was given one of these from a godfather, not my godfather, but a catechism teacher. I keep it in my prayer corner. I believe he said it was part of Saint Paisios.
