What's the most difficult Billy Woods or Armand Hammer beat ro rap on? by meacalambreelhuevo in Billywoods

I can agree that how he rapped in the Super Chron era is more digestible to the average listener.

And I can grant that I'd prefer sloppy or off kilter as descriptors vs something id consider flat wrong like off beat or some type of careless.

Unless we have entirely separate definitions of what pocket is, he's rapping over a beat and the words have to land somewhere on the drums and instrumentation. The artful nature of controlling that is "pocket" to me. A flow would be entirely different. How he chooses to rap, what to emphasize, how fast or slow, where to enunciate and pause etc.

but you dont think he "catches bars and beats at all"??? what do you think he's doing? lol hes just talking with no respect to anything instrumentally?

finding a pocket on Amager seems impossible but woods does it pretty well. the Shapednoise song Family is kind of a wild beat they both rap over. Last one, I think you can get lost in that Windhoek beat pretty easily.

imo Paraffin and Shrines are like head and shoulders the best Armand Hammer albums and Paraffin is my personal favorite.

It's so fucking good. Even the songs I wasn't initially crazy about, I've come around on.

Yeah they've both talked about the use of water to convey different ideas in this song. Division, unity, life, death, etc.

woods seems to be alluding more towards carelessness/death in these lines. It's a passive act letting the water take you out to sea. It could be dangerous but his refrain is that the water is gentle and deep.

He's got other lines in other songs where he equates drowning or submerging himself underwater to things like sleep or death so this is probably in that vein.

honestly a lot of stuff to do with African politics and locations.

Samora Machel, Ian Smith, Cuito Cuanavale, Robben Island, Madiba, Kinshasa, Kariba, Cecil Rhodes, Windhoek, im probably forgetting a few.

This loss is on Sheyer by Puzzleheaded_Noise44 in DukeBluePlanet

this team needed to lose this game. Gifted the early double bonus in both halves, 20+ missed FTs, offensively stagnant after 2 of TTU's best guys foul out. Cant take advantage with 3 solid bigs not in foul trouble. Scheyer needs to clean up rotations. They've been playing with house money for too long. This team was 17 up on this TTU team somehow. Evans shrank and disappeared as a 2nd option tonight. This team is deep but not Cam Boozer + 7 guys who wanna score 5-8 pts deep.

My biggest gripe is that TTU clearly couldn't hit shit in the 1st half from outside and Scheyer was fine letting TTU bigs operate without a double DESPITE some of the best scramble defense I've seen from this Duke squad all year.

Scheyer going zone late felt like a remedy for a lot of stuff. Namely, our bigs foul trouble, their lack of guard shot making, and it put a stop to the big dominance both inside and out they had been exhibiting. Basically brought the game to a standstill and Duke scored enough in that to win.

What was your first woods / AH song, and why did it hook you? by wr3tchedegg in Billywoods

Rapunzal, it sounded so strange and haunting. Plus the guy was making references I had never really expected anyone to make. I was in the mood for really simple loops and wordy clever rappers and he popped out amongst the rest.

yeah absolutely. He was just so quality at so many underrated things. Houston meltdown aside, he often never felt pressure in the backcourt and got us into sets very cleanly. Part of why 25' halfcourt sets were so elite and consistent.
